Stage III is semi stupid and Stage V is "STUPID StUpId"
On a stock tranny (IMHO) more than 310 RWHP is ok....after that, you're gett'n stupid. After 400 or so.... that's "Stupid" HP.

I think the only one that can truely answer your question would be Joe at Suncoast. Various power level have been talked about but I do not believe I have ever seen a hard fast rule of Hp Vs. what level to go with.

Joe used to have the rated HP for each kit on his site. If I remember correctly he used to claim 500 HP was good on L3 kit. I think he said that below 500 HP the level II with new clutches and Tansgo would be all you needed for under 500 HP. Hope this helps.

What happened? Give us details!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is the first time a Suncoast tranny when bad. The Level II is supposed to handle up too 500HP. I would be calling Joe about this. When I got my Level II he said it was good for 500 HP.

Robert,
At the dyno Saturday I was laying down dyno pulls from 474 to 494 messing with various tunes. All seemed well
Yesterday at the Denton track, I was having problems with traction. Lowered torsion bars and lowered air in tires to 43 lbs. Tow haul on. Was playing with a few tunes as well. Never could hook right off the line. On the 4 th run the tranny started slipping near the 60ft mark and I let out returned to the pits and knew tranny had a problem. I can barely pull away from a stop, but once I got on the highway I was able to get the truck into OD and lock up.

This is very disappointing to hear beacuse Joe told me the level II was good for 500 HP. What are you plans, LIII or what?

Sounds like you lost C1.....I believe the Level 2 are stock C1's. Level 3 go to 15? single sided and a different apply plate for the C1 clutch pack.

I've got a truck on my hoist now with a transgo and a triple disk.. OEM clutches and c2 and c3 are major smoked...
As for what power levels you can get away with, buy the most you can afford. The only differnce in a stage II and a III is ~5-600 bucks worth of clutches.. money well spent the first time around.
