TIRES AND RIMS OR EDGE AND ATTITUDE? ................ Ok, I just got an 05 2500 HD. At first was gonna buy tires and rims, these puny 245's are just STUPID. But after reading all of these posts about the edge and "smoke" or "soot", it is killin me to get the edge/attitude. I have done MUCH research, and I love power. If I could smoke someone out like some of the stories I've read, I would LMAO for a LONG time.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/hihi.gif

However I work in construction(electrical) Walmarts mostly, and my truck does see snow and mud whenever the season is there.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley5.gif

My prob is I am not as rich as some of you guys on here, I have to d, o one or the other, when income tax comes that will be a different story, I could probably do both at that time. I cannot decide, almost as bad as a woman, heh?http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley9.gif

I guess I just need someone to push me one way or another.

Thanks for all the info and help.

and P.S. "baimpala" if you're out there, man you are funny son!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gif, in a good way. I LMAO when I found the thread about a guy with his exhaust he bought used, Did you ever find your cat? http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/hihi.gif

Do both, but I think I would get the "chip" first because the tires are still new "small" or not

now snowman is recomending to "boost" someones truck?http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley3.gif You see the error of your ways and sell off your toyota gasser?http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley17.gif

The decision is totaly up to you. one thing though is that I took off my 245's imediatly and sold em for 200$ for all 5 or something like that. If you sell off your good tires while they are still good? maybe another thing to consider. And if you get a program you will end up needing tires fast anywayhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif yeah, yeah, youll be good, thats what i told myself toohttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/hihi.gif

The edge comes as a engin controll moduel on the recipt IIRC. Sounds like an imprtant part to the IRS anyway if you deduct part of your truck and parts for ithttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif

Although AGFuTS BABY!!!

I plow snow so the factory pizza cutters had to go for me.

They few times i have drove my truck stock after i started adding power it went from fun to drive to borring.

Hell of a decision.......http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley5.gifEdited by: ratlover

Get the POWER then you can have fun BURNING the 245's off the truck and by then you will not want to burn your bigger tires.

Go ahead and get the powerhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/hihi.gifhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/hihi.gifhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/hihi.gif

It snows in Texas? Since when! http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley17.gif

I would consider keeping your stock tires if your dealer balks at drivetrain complaints.Unless you have a good relationship with them.

Actually I am in Missouri at the time working, I travel all over the US mostly th east coast and central, I bought the truck through my credit union, went to Texas to get it, dealer/sales rep is/was an AWESOME guy, he has answered many of my questions, (Alex Gipson of James Wood in Denton, TX) I doubt I will ever take it back there if I do have warranty issues, unless of course, no one else will honor it.

I really think he would take care of me, but as far as "having a good relationship with himhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley5.gif, I met him the day I picked up my truck and haven't seen him since.

Not really, just suggesting what to do first if he has his mind set on both, notice I did not say which one and how much boost

I plowed with stock tires for 3 years with NO PROBLEMS before I went to
studed tires for ice. But then I use ballast in truck always and
I do not have a heavy engine in front too to push through snow in 2wd
either.

Get the tires first.

If you get the programmer first you will be unhapp once you change to a larger tire. You will feel like you lost power.

With the tires first you will already know what a loss in power is like and when you get the programmer you will be ecstatic.

Also with the tires first you will really want the programmer and will work that much harder to get it faster.

I went with looks first. TTS for the 05 isn't out yet. I did keep the
original tires and wheels for warr issues. I have 295's on it now and
it runs great. Since this is my first diesel I did not notice loss of
power compared to gas. It still gets up and goes http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/hihi.gif . Enjoy, which ever way you go.

Power and Wheels and Tires all at the same time = credit card until the IRS returns your funds! http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley32.gif http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley32.gif Gotta keep the economy moving.

Ditto on the credit card. Looks and power. You got the
truck, make it the way you want. Enjoy, you're a long time dead!

My own suggestion would be tires. Put a reputable set on. My
opinion of factory tires is they are cheaply built. Could cause
problems on the road.

First stop after delivery of my new trucks was the tire dealer.

Well........................ I'm juicin' http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/hihi.gifhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley4.gif Good Lord this thing hauls a**.

Leaving it on lvl 3, and gonna let ol' Ally learn a little. I got on it a few times, had too. That lil guy on my shoulder made me. AWESOME power, and this is the first day, completly stock otherwise. Can't wait to get exhaust put on, and for the trans. to adjust better, don't know about you other people, but I actually "felt" a decrease in turbo lag. Honestly, seemed to spool up faster. Thanks for all the advice. This site is great.

Oh yeah, I think all the drivers around here like the smell of a big cloud of diesel.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/hihi.gif Seems like once I put edge in that everyone likes to tailgate, not for long.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/hihi.gif

Thanks to all.

I haven't tried many times, but never have been able to get a lot of smoke out of my Juice/Attitude. It does get up and go tho!

Probably don't have your low boost fuel set high enough. Think level five is the "make smoke" number.
