Are the invoice prices accurate on the Chevrolet locater website? Does anyone know a website/place to check invoice prices of vehicles? TIA

Try Kelly Blue Book

Try www.edmunds.com or www.cars.com

Both websites as well as Kelly Blue Book site, gives you the Invoice price as well as the MSRP on the trucks.

From repeated calculations of invoice, I've found that it is always about .888 of MSRP — at least on Chevy stuff. I have done the calculations and then tested them later against dealers' invoice quotes — comes out right on the money (pun intended). I have never heard of "wholesale invoice" or "wholesale floorplan." I have been buying Chevy tucks and cars at the invoice figure I gave for the past 5 years. On the other hand, (if I understand what that dealer is proposing) if they will sell that truck for the wholesale invoice plus the flooplan add-on (or $43,401.95 plus $594.75 for a total of $43,996.70), it is $220.37 lower than my invoice calculation of $44,217.02. If I don't have it straight, you should pay no more than the $44,401.02 (the actual invoice) out the door — with nothing added to that but tax, license, and no more than a $75 document (doc) fee!

The invoice on the base truck is 0.915 of the MSRP. The invoice for the options is 0.830 of the option MSRP. The freight invoice is $900, or 100% of the listed freight. The invoice for my truck ended up being 0.896 of the MSRP, including the freight. If the dealer participates in GM advertising then there is usually 1% of total invoice added, but in some locations it is 2%. The dealer has to pay this additional charge to GM, but some dealers don't participate at all and have no additional charge.

Yes, if the dealer participates, the dealer pays. Buuuuut, that is advertising that the dealer does not pay locally. There is no reason to charge the customer for that particular cost of doing business more than any other — like the utility bill or employee insurance. It should all be reflected in the competative selling price, just like the other costs. It would be a very convenient world to do business in if you had a monopoly on a product (as a dealer does) and could pass ALL of your business costs directly to the customer. Your profit would be virtually guaranteed! In a reasonably competative environment, someone in business tries to sell enough product to pay the costs and make a profit — no guarantees. A dealer participates in the manufacturer's advertising because it offers the prospect of increasing sales. Thus, the actual ad cost to the dealer may be much less than what GM charges.

The invoice you see there is the TRUE invoice! It however does not include any of their Advertising Fees and holdback.

It does however show you exactly what the dealer paid, so when trying to get into some of their holdback, it gives you some leverage.

Costco.com's Auto Buying Program has always been spot on when it comes to Invoice and MSRP on the 3 new GM vehicles I bought in the past 2 years.
The Costco program is a good way to search the price and to know where to start your negotiating at IMO. This however does not includ GM's advertising fees they add on.

Sorry, link didn't work. Just go to costco.com and go to auto, then services,
then the auto buying program.

I bought on the GMS price as a GMFF, and have the BAR docs. BilltheRVer has the formulas for base and options right for determining invoice price, but invoice price is higher than GMS. Pure GMS price on 07 HD's is ~0.861% of MSRP, netting out holdbacks, wholesale finance credit, etc. Take MSRP less destination, multiply by 0.861, now add destination, subtract applicable factory rebates at the time, and you're at rock bottom, anything-lower-is-pure-negative-cash-flow to the dealer (unless a model spf is on for the dealer, of course.)

MSRP before freight of 46064.00, and add 900 more for destination, equates to a GMS cost of 40554.33, which includes destination, e.g. Don't forget to sub out offered rebates, too.

You still have applicable taxes, depending on trades, phantom "memo" price depending on state sales tax, etc. You are well prepared.
