: Accessory position?

I am wondering what position you guys put the key in if you want to listen to the radio without the truck running? Older cars had it where you turn the key back and that was the "accessory position". My '05 doesn't have that. The first positoin forward will turn the radio on, but also turns on the dash lights and battery indicator on the dash, then the next position forward is on, with all the dash lights on, then there's start. So far all I have been doing is putting it in the first position and using the dash board dimmer to dim the dash lights, but that also dims the radio lights. Any thoughts?

We have "retained power". You turn the key to the first position, turn on the radio, then turn the key off. Don't remove it, or open a door, and the radio will play for ten minutes.

Yup, and if you want to listen to it outside, you'll have to roll the windows down and shut the door first, then do what he mentioned :D

On the new style 2007.5 one can open any other door than the driver door and the radio continues for 10minutes. Only the drivers door will cause the radio to turn off.

The people that designed the logic (or lack of) to that system, must have never sat out somewhere having a cold adult beverage and wanting to listen to the radio in their truck. Happens a lot around here....

And ALOT around here. It annoyed me so much I yanked the factory and put in My pioneer without the door chime or the retained power. However, I like it in my wifes Explorer because she can get out to run in somewhere and, gasoline costing what it does, I can shut the exploder off and still listen to the radio and use the windows. Just my opinion.
