I am trying to get a 305/??/18 on a new HD with the least amount of lift and or expense. What backspacing etc on a wheel do I need? What is least amount of lift-hoping a leveling kit will be enough?? What leveling kit/lift do you recommend? HELP

I want to be able to fit in a garage with a 84" height.

thanks,

Check my garage. I have 305/55/20 on 20x9 incubus alloys. No lift, leveling kit or keys. Just some inner-trimming and torsion bars cranked. Rubs only on sharp-turns.

Cognito Motorsports for leveling kit

You can get a really nice Toyo MT tire in a 275/70/18 that "should" fit depending on what width wheels and what offset you choose.

I have a 6" Tuff Country with 35s. My signature says lowered 1" for the garage but I have since crept it back up.
I've done a quite a bit of trimming even with a large back space wheel.
But you don't need to worry though, it will fit your garage. My garage is 83" and she slides in nicely. I did order a shorter antenna however.
The Onstar pod clears by about 1/8".
Funny thing is that my '01 F350 PSD with only a level and 35s clearded by the same amount???

Bottom line is your garage is not an issue;)

i have 305/65/18s on my classic which im told has bigger fender openings than the new lmms, and ive got about 2-2.5" of lift in the front, trimmed a good bit, about as much as u possibly can and im running 9" wide wheels with 4.5" BS.

if u get the same size ull need the cognito leveling kit and set it to 2.5-3" and ull want a wheel with 5.5-6" BS and 8.5-9" wide. a 305/60/18 will give u some more room.

I think the only 305 choices in an 18 are the BFG AT 305/65/18 and Cooper STT 305/60/18. For some reason a lot of companies jump from a 285 to 325 in 18", although there may be some new offerings since I last checked. 18's on a LMM will look sweet.

I have 305/50/20's and i had to do some doctoring to the back of the wells. Have not cranked the torsion bars yet. Only rubs if I turn into a driveway to fast... But it looks COOL!!!

I did 305/55/20 Toyo Open Country AT's on Ion Alloy 137's 20x9 with 0 offset. You need full torsion bar crank to make these fit and then you have to trim 1-2 inches off the rear edge of fender/rocker panel & zip tie the front and rear inner fender liner.

NOT an easy fit!! but I really wanted this tire and wheel combo.

Maybe should have looked at Moto Metal 956 +12 offset and 305/50/20 open country AT.

Three days with the body man and the fender and rocker look great now but what a PITA.

when you guys say trimming, I assume you mean the inner plastic and maybe the bottom front of fender? You are not trimming the rear of the fender-the actual painted body part, are you?

anyone else? pics?

check my garage, I had an 04 with 305/55/20 Panther Juice 8 with Nitto Terra Grapplers. I cranked torsion bars and trimmed a bit on front bumper and they did not rub. PM me if you like the wheels and tires, I still have them and looking to sell to help pay for the 19.5's for my dually.

Faslif,

Check out my garage, I have a similar set up as Bill Higbie.

Ready lift leveling kit
325/60/18 Nitto Terra Grappler
18 x 9 Ultra 172 wheels +2mm offset

I had to do a little trimming and turning of the t-bars but ride is still great.

Good luck

faslif,

On my truck, the wheels are Eagle Alloy's series 178. They have a +2mm offset with a 5" backspacing. I don't know exactly what the specs are on the Moto's 951. I will try and find out for ya.

Good luck and let me know what you come up with.

Thought I heard the Moto Metal was going to do a new 951 with a high positive ofset. maybe check with knowledgeable dealer and ask them to call Wheel Pros (Moto Metal distributor) and ask.

Yessir. the front doesnt rub. the rear part is what I had to trim. took some gm touch up paint to prevent rusting.
