Is it worth doing airbox mods to the LLY?

I would like more performance and more turbo noise. I was thinking about getting the Banks Ram air system.

Also, does removing the intake baffle do anything, good or bad? Does it make it louder? And what was the piece guys were using to replace the baffle with?

I have the banks on my 05 seems to work pretty good.

Any louder turbo noise than stock. Notice anything for performance? Im not looking for a ton more power or anything, just making it more responsive and peppey if thats possible.

Electric fans to replace the stock one will give better throttle response.

I also swiss-cheesed my stock box and can definitely hear the turbo whistle now. But it's not annoying.

I have used the stock air box, a swiss cheesed stock air box and also an AFE Intake system, I didnt really notice any performance difference between the three setups, but more turbo whistle is heard thru the after market intake, I would assume the Banks would also give you more turbo whistle.
I also removed the intake baffle (black box with 6.6) and it does absolutley nothing for noise or performance. I personally like it off though as it provides less clutter on the motor and kinda looks cool. I used a 2" rubber quick cap from the plumbing dept. at Home Depot to replace the baffle with......:D

If it didn't do a thing I might as well just leave it on there.

A buddy of mine took the baffle out of his 06 CTD and the turbo is louder than a rigs now... I thought maybe I could get that effect haha.

I'll probably pick up a banks ram air one of these days I think.

Tossed on an AFE stage 2. Really no difference noticed. I can hear the intake sucking a bit but thats about all.

Well i think an Intake is a vital part, I used to disagree, But i never had to reset the restriction guage with the banks, and with the big tune the factory filter, even new would suck the guage in. with the swisscheesed box.

Its a resonator. Its 1, for looks, and 2, to quiet the air entering your motor. Mine's been plugged since the day I brought it home. A simple plummers tool, 2" cork will work fine.
