: Problem free programming?
tbyrne 10-18-2004, 01:46 AM I've been looking over the various programming that is available for the LLY and is seems like the TTS is the only one that offers smooth (like factory) driveability and no issues. I've seen a few posts from users with the Edge. In general it seems to be a VERY good product but there has been some problems posted.
I'm looking for something that I can install in my '05 and pretty much forget about if I want to. Well, I guess the extra power will remind me that it's there :) Factory driveability or better and a healthy horsepower and torque increase are a must!

04LLYDmax 10-18-2004, 01:56 AM Not sure if there is such a thing as problem free. Hope you find what you need. I have a hypertech and have almost no issues until I put on exhaust. I feel as though the exhaust is more of an issue than the programmer. Just my opinion and I am new to this diesel thing so take from it what you will. My buddy has an F350 with the edge and he seems to have more issues than my Dmax.
Good luck in your search.
Jumper357 10-18-2004, 03:16 AM What are the issues with the exhaust?
04LLYDmax 10-18-2004, 09:08 AM for me i keep getting the same 2 codes. 0401 and 0404 They are flow issues. I have 4 inch magnaflow from the downpipe back cat removed. I think it is a backpressure issue. If I put the cat back in it will most likely solve the problem.
RickDLance 10-18-2004, 12:38 PM I have one of my trucks without the cat and with the stock exhaust and the other without the cat and with a 4" exhaust. No codes that I know of. I also have an EDGE box and have no complaints other than I need more fuel mileage. I like the Edge because if my truck dies on the road I can unplug it before the dealer shows up. Under certain circustances you can not do that with the Hypertech. Any mileage suggestions? Edited by: RickDLance
tbyrne 10-19-2004, 10:57 AM The thread that promped this post is - http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=16507&a (http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=16507&PN=1) mp;PN=1
I think I might look to either the TTS, Diablo or Westers tuning.
McRat 10-19-2004, 12:28 PM If you buy a second PCM, the TTS is 100% removable and the dealer cannot tell.
I was one of the "guinea pigs" for the TTS Tow Tune, so I got one of the first tunes.
There is zero issues that I'm aware of with it, EXCEPT the DIC reads a little higher mileage than it should. Actually mileage is the same for me, or perhaps a little higher, even though I'm getting there faster.
To the best of my knowledge, nobody who is running it has had any problems whatsoever with it.
tbyrne 10-19-2004, 12:54 PM I think this will be the best bet. Most of my vehicles never go back to the dealer so I'm not worried about that but I know the people over there just in case :)
bspz28 10-19-2004, 08:58 PM Hey Tom welcome to the board :) I bet you can't wait to get the new truck
tbyrne 10-19-2004, 09:06 PM Thanks!
I'm looking forward to this one and am planning on combining the best features of my current trucks into this one. Easier to modify and much better gas mileage are added benefits :)
JJs DuMax 10-19-2004, 09:19 PM TTS is coming out with a handheld programmer after the first of the year. I like what McRat said about how smooth the power was with the TTS, but don't want the changing out of the PCM issue should my wife have problems on the road. Haven't seen a price yet, but it should be competitive with other handhelds. JJ http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley4.gif
tbyrne 10-19-2004, 11:34 PM We get $689.-$1289. for their handhelds so I expect the LLYs to be the same.
JJs DuMax 10-20-2004, 05:38 AM Did I mention I like the $689 version. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/hihi.gif So much for being competitive! That's a fairly hefty price for a handheld, I can pick up Hyptertech, BD, heck even Edge/Juice for considerably less off eBay. But the TTS gets such rave reviews? http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley24.gif
"We get $689.-$1289. for their handhelds so I expect the LLYs to be the same." tbyrne, sounds you like sell these, but your sig doesn't mention being a vendor. Wazzup? JJ http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley4.gif
tbyrne 10-20-2004, 09:17 AM The TTS are on the high end of handheld pricing but as you mentioned their tuning gets rave reveiws.
I am in the high performance parts business but not a sponsor here yet. So with respect to the vendors that advertise I don't list any company info right now. We've done alot with the truck gas motors and will be getting heavily into the DuraMax shortly.
bspz28 10-20-2004, 09:48 AM Thats great to hear Tom... Since I've pick up a few LS1 parts from you over the years maybe you can hook me up with some free Duramax performance parts http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley4.gif
