Looking to upgrade my brake pads ... stock are ok but I want some more stopping power ... I tow 4-5 Days a week total (truck and trailer) approx 15,000 lbs I have ebrakes on the trailer but every now & then you need more (when some car cuts you off thinking he is faster and smater then you .... gurrr:mad: then he stops for the light that I had no intention on stopping for ... Yeah, great !!) So I am going to get stainless steel lines to help with pedal feel. I have new stock rotors and pads ... like I said they have been ok ... and I haven't hit anyone ... yet ... and I would like to keep it that way too:)

Have been looking at the Hawk Super Heavy duty pads ??

Looking for experences with these pads or something better for towing and stopping on a dime ... that would be nice too :D

i have the hawk lts pads in the rear with cryo power slot rotors i could tell the differance after install i did flush my brake fluid also it brought the peddle up more less spongy.now saving up for the front rotors and pads i would recommend them.

Thanks for the input so you like the slotted rotors .. I am thinking of just trying the pads with the new rotors I have for now anyway.

This might answer any other questions you might have regarding "performance" brakes.

I have heard good things about Hawk and even better things about EBC. I'm planning to try the EBC's soon.

I googled EBC and found out you might be right about been better then Hawk ... of course this is only based on what they claim .. I think I just might give them a try ... unless someone knows of something better for good price and long wear etc etc.

slotted rotors are good, better than drilled rotors which will warp, use them on my wifes mail route, brakes last longer and stop much better. Factory brakes are very good on my truck I have 173+ miles without any issues, original brakes too. my trailer has elecric brakes and i use a Prodigy Controller when i have the tractor on the trailer it stops really good.

Good to know ... I have been thinking might do the slotted rotors thing also .. I too have good brakes on the trailer but sometimes when not hooked up and I am driving like a stole the truck it would be nice to have a little extra braking power ... I had a 1990 E350 cube with amazing brakes ... kind of got use to not having to apply too much pressure ... I don't know if anyone else has noticed this with Ford and their brakes .... seem to have more assit and need less leg power to stop ?

Are the EBC rotors Cryogenically Treated when you purchase them or do you have to have them treated yourself?
if so where do you get them treated?

Yes on what banshee42096 said about flushing the brake fluid. I do not know why, but it helps the pedal feel alot. :D Mike ( even on my wifes Malibu )

I don't think they are ... and from what I have read ... Having them Cryogenically treated didn't make a big difference ... there is a good link in one of the above post about brakes.

I have used this company for all of my cryo work. I have had axles, gears, brakes, transmission shafts, and other metal parts treated. I have experienced a longer life of abuse compared to non treated parts. Just my experience though.
