I posted about a leaking transfer case back on September 25.

They replaced the back half of the case due to a pinhole cause by a pump moving around inside the case. Unfortunately, they cobbled up the repair in more than one way (see the other thread for driveshaft, carrier bearing, and grinding noise descriptions).

I got the truck back today. October 16, only 3 weeks. They finally found the "gear grinding" noise. They tell me that there was a "missing" snap ring on the selector shaft and that it was intermittently trying to go to 4wd.

I asked them if there was any damage to the innards (they drove it about 130 miles repeating the intermittent grinding sounds trying to figure out that they just needed to take the transfer case back apart and see what their bozo had done). I got the "on no, those are pretty stout" response. It took two weeks because they apparently were looking for some way to "adjust" the noise away, and did not want to redo the transfer case. They only did that when I finally demanded that they give me another truck to drive while they tried to figure things out.

I wouldn't believe these guys if they told me it was daytime.

Is there cause for worry here? I drove it about 120 miles today with no problems. Is there some way to find out the proper routing of the transmission shifter cable? Mine is now rubbing very forcefully against the back cross member. It doesn't look like it did that before.

Thanks
