I've never taken a good look to see how much of a difference (if any) there is between the Denali headlights and the regular Sierra lights. Has anyone don't this swap or I guess a better question is can it be done faily easily? I know the grills are different so that might cause a problem.

I've done the conversion as well, headlights ONLY that is. The grill
and signal lights are different, so if you want to go with the OEM
denali grill, you will have to pick up a set of signal lights as well

So the headlights will fit/work fine without changing the grill? That is pretty much the only thing I am concerned with. I'll then have to gets some HIDs for the driving lights to match.

Exactamundo,

The dimensions are the same for both, only difference is that the
signal lights are different from stock to denali. The headlights for
denali are identical size/fit to the OEM ones.

So if you want to do the conversion with only headlights, you are cool.

If you want the conversion with denali grill, and not an insert, you HAVE to pick up grill, 2 signal lights, and 2 headlights

Here are some pics to help clarify, these were taken somewhere off of this forum, and are not my truck.

Above: OEM Denali grill. notice the signal lights are rounded.

Below: here is a stock grill with Denali headlights, the signal lights are a standard height.

Hope this helps

Pull the two pins holding the lights in, unplug Sierra lights, plug in Denali lights, put the two pins back ing and you're done. may take you 5 min if you have to adjust the lights! I did it on mine but the light output on the stock lights was much better than the Denali lights so I sold them. I bought them off E-bay (used originals) so maybe the light bulbs were swapped or something. I want to say they were 9005 or 9006 that were in them.

HIDs are a night and day difference over regular lighting so you should have felt that the whole road was displayed in front of you.

The full conversion is do-able, but pretty pricey, here's a link to a
previous post which someone did do a full conversion. Looks like they
replaced the bumper as well...

I could be wrong - have been once or twice - but aren't the Denali headlamps just projector style lamps using regular bulbs? For HID, you'd need the proper ballasts and other associated parts.

Wifes Denali uses the same bulbs as my truck. Don't remember if it was high or low, but one is definately some type of projector setup using stock type bulb.

No comparison in light output to my truck with JK's booster setup.

I kept the JK booster setup I had on her Suburban, and will be installing it on the Denali. I expect that her light output will then rival mine.

I have been eyeballing her front end, to see what it would take to put something like that on my truck. We will see?

I run stage 2 HID lights on my Suburban (low beam, high beams and driving lights). That truck lights up everything! You never want to go back to regular lights after using HIDs.

FYI guys, I just put in silverstars with the projectors, and the
lowbeam lamp uses a 9005, as opposed to a conventional low beam bulb
9006 (These trucks at least). So if you are going to be doing any type
of aftermarket/bulb replacement with these projectors, pick up a set of
4 9005s!

cid', that was wierd, I was scrolling and had to do a double take after
seing my truck in someone else's post. This was one of the easiest mods
I have done. Much better for night driving, nobody bright lights you
when towing the trailer.

Thanks for the info! I'll be going with HIDs all around. What kind of bulbs does the lower driving lights use? That will look sweet with some Stage 2s in there :)

aketay,

SORRY! didnt know or mean to put your truck in particular, it was just one I found that matched what I was trying to explain..

tbyrne,

DRL's are standard bulbs, dont think there is any real high performance
kit you can put in there without seriously warping/melting the plastic
from the heat.

Sorry, I mean the fog lights. I usually refer to them as driving lights :)

The company that I used to deal with closes earlier this year so we're picking up a new line that uses Phillips ballasts. The 9005 and 9006 lights are $529. per set. I use them in most of my vehicles. I find myself looking down to make sure the lights are on if I'm driving something without HIDs.

I put my headlights in last week. I was going to do the headlights but sold those to a walk-in customers so I won't have my sets in until next week.
