Go Bilstiens, you won't regret it. A little rough for a few hundred miles but when broke in they work real well.

Bilsteins are terrific. A day/night improvement in
handling and ride.

You won't go wrong with Bilsteins. My '94 GMC 2500 has Bilsteins with over 200K miles on them, and the truck still rides beautifully.....way better than it did with the factory shocks. What came on the 04.5 was just about as bad as what came on the '94, so that truck got Bilsteins also. And it also rides a whole lot better.

My '99 came from the factory with Bilsteins. Really sucks that the '04 didn't ! http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley7.gif

jebar,

i see you have a 3500. i too have a 3500 dually and do not care for the ride at all. it is very stiff when empty. will the bilsteins help the ride smooth out when empty?

It should be in the owners' manual to call John Kennedy and order a
set of Bilstens as soon as you get it home. It's the 'money most well
spent' mod I've done and most will agree. I only had to drive half a
block to feel the difference, Two of my shocks were blown at under
30K, the other two were not far behind...

Yep, put mine on at about 2000 miles. Cant beat it. I have a gasser so it is a little stiff on the front, but with the diesel,it'll be perfect...

I was a little hesitant to buy, I was afraid of a harsher ride. The Bilsteins are awesome. The truck now corners like it is on rails. Towing is much improved too, no more push and pull motion when towing the 28' 5ver with the 4 Atv's behind that.

How hard are they to install? The rear looks easy, but the front looks like a PITA.

They're really not hard to install. If you did your own guages and exhaust, this will be a piece of cake. Hell, even if you didn't, the shocks are not much of a challenge.

I really didnt notice that much difference. I dont think it corners any better.

It still sways too much, and dives when you brake hard.

I would have been better off with a bigger fuel tank.

How hard to install? Now, I admit to having a hoist, air tools, and some knowledge, but I am a very old fart who has arthritus, lumbego, bad kidneys, and a cancer survivor, so I don't move too fast. I installed my 4 new Bilsteins by myself on my 05 HD CC LB last night in under 45 minutes total, including eating a sandwich & drinking a large Coke while I was at it. Very easy, although I admit it was nice having a relatively clean vehicle underneath with relatively clean bolts and shocks. Laying on my back on a creeper would have added 15 minutes probably if I did not have the lift. That 15 minutes would be for getting up and down to the creeper.
