Trying to decide between 255/85 or 285/75 on stock wheels w/ 2" hub-centric spacers. Has anyone run these or know of anyone who has?

Pretty much all of the Dodge and Ford duallys around here are running 285/75's or even 315's on their factory 6.5" wide rims. Yes, I know that 285's are *way* too wide for a 6.5" rim, but I also know of a Dodge getting 55K miles on this combination while hauling insanely heavy loads (he does rotate religiously). Yes the centers wore out first, but at 55K miles who cares. He has also run the spacers that I am considering for over 100k with zero problems.

Another option would 285's on front and 255's on back, but that wouldn't allow for tire rotation. Appreciate any info or advice that anyone has...

I don't know how worried you're going to be about this, but with you having a 4X4, the 255/85 tires are going to be about a 1/4" taller than the 285/75's. Personally I think the 285's would look better on your truck, but not on a 6.5" rim. I'd upgrade to at least a 7.5" rim and 7" at the very least!!

One other thing to consider is with the snow flying soon, you will get better ice traction with the 255/85 tires.

just my two cents worth!.
