Somebody's gotta help. Gonna change my oil, I have called Auto Zone, O Reilly's, and Walmart. They all claim not to carry a filter for my truck, and the only oil they say they carry for diesel engines is Rotella. I have read LOTS of info here about AMSOIL, and Mobil 1 syn.

What is recommended, what's wrong with Rotella? and what brand of filter? Where can I buy these, oil or filter?

This is my first diesel so I'm still learnin' but this website is awesome, and you guys that are willing to reply and help others out are even more awesome. Thanks for all the help!!

Your problem is probably that your truck is to new for their data banks. As far as I know all the D-Max engines use the same oil filter so maby you could check on a filter for an 01 to 04. If one of the offical techs knows that the 05 filter is different maby they will chime in. Most Wall Marts carry Mobile oils like the synthetic 5-40 truck and suv or the standard delvac 1300 15-40. Most all truck stops carry a lot of different diesel oils also, but tend to be higher priced. I hope this helps, Mike- Edited by: Blue Max

I buy STP filters from the Autozones in my area. Good filter for a good price and according to Blackstone labs it is doing a good job filtering my oil. Later! Frank

There are quite a few people on this site that run Rotella oil. I have not seen anything negative about it.

On my 2004.5 LLY, I buy Napa oil filters #7202. I believe it is just a Wix filter (57202) labeled for Napa.

Baldwin oil filters seem to have a good rep. I am using
them. Baldwin has a section on their website to find a dealer in
your area. Best pricing on any filter I have found in my area.

I run Rotella 15w-40 and it's been working very well. I use it with a Mobil 1 filter.

I believe the oil filters are the same as for the LB7 engines. I use Baldwin, which I can get locally, but NAPA carries a good filter (WIX) if you don't have a Baldwin dealer nearby. Kragen or it's equivalent should carry the 5w/40 Mobil 1 Truck and SUV oil, which is rebadged Delvac 1 diesel engine oil.

I found the mobil 1 5w-40, truck/suv oil, walmart had ONE qurart, and they said they stopped carrying it. O Reilly's had it as well, and they did carry the Wix filter for an 04.

I was looking for a 15w-40 before I posted this topic, didn't even consider the 5w-40 until now. Bought the 5w-40 from O' Reilly's @ 4.99/qt.

Anyone have a part number for the Mobil one filter (for an '04)?

Also, where do you guys buy this AMSOIL, over the internet only? I have done research on it and it seems to be the top stuff in many opinions.

Thanks again.

I think Greg Landuyt at Lube Specialist can sell it to you cheaper than you can buy it as a dealer. Later! Frank http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif

The part number for the Mobile 1 filter is M1-303. I just bought a couple from Autozone (http://www.autozone.com) a few weeks ago. They even had free shipping. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley20.gif

Guys,

I am sure I will get flammed , but I use just the inexpensive Walmart oil... as we all know they do not produce the oil.. but for $4.44 a gallon.. it cost me about $10 for an oil change for my truck.... and I have 94K on it now with out any real problems.. injection pump and ops... as of the last year or so.. and that is it...

GSLAM 88; nothing wrong with that. As long as it meets the
Duramax requirements. Check your owners manual and compare to
ratings on jug.

Try this link: M1-303 (http://www.autozone.com/servlet/UiBroker?UseCase=C001&UserAction=performPartNumResults&Parameters=OIL+FILTER+++++++++++++++++++++++++%7C% 7E580362%7C%7E00%7C%7Em1-303)

I couldn't find them locally either. They must be pretty popular, since the price has went up $1.00 since I ordered mine, & the first time I ordered them from Autozone, they were back-ordered.

The link works fine for me. It says, "Online availability, Normally Stocked - Ships within 2 Business Days" after you add one to your cart.

I just bought two more M1 filters at an Autozone in Cincinnati last week as well. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley5.gif

I needed to select my make model of truck before it would let me see a price or order the part. I figured it out. Thanks for the help.
