Hey guys, I found some photos of some brand new 2007/2008 GMC Sierras lifted with a few different types of lifts.

Those of you that have an 07.5/08 LMM GMC OR CHEVY Truck, Feel free to POST YOUR OWN PHOTOS with some type of description of
+What type of Lift you are running and suspension height.
+Tire size and type.
+Wheel type and size.
+Any other features or lift mods your truck has.

I figured these photos and the ones the rest of you post, would help some of you guys with the 07 GMC Sierra LMM trucks, or those who are getting one soon in choosing the lift they want to go with or what height to go with.

This is definately helping me get an idea as well of how my New LMM will look when it is delivered, and I get my lift on...:D

This First Black lifted GMC has an 8" Superlift.
It has 37x13.5 Toyo Open Country Tires
with 20" Chrome VENTI wheels.

Both Black trucks look awesome!!! The White truck doesn't do as much for me, I have never been a fan of long beds or the sagging rear end look. Thanks for the pics!

Funny, the pic in your avatar looks to have a saggy rear. Can't tell if it's a long bed though. I guess it might just be the angle of the picture, but I had to point it out.:D ( I don't care for them either)

It is a long bed and i think it is sagging a little in the rear, but I think the front wheel wells make it look like it does more. Sorry to Hijack the thread though.

I'll be getting mine done at the same place shown in the pics of the white truck - SoCal Supertrucks in San Bernardino. I used to drive right past them on the way to work everyday before I moved. I've been talking with Casey over there. Might happen this week or next after I get my truck back from the dealer for warrantee repairs.

What are you having done?

Proabably a Cognito 4-6" kit. I've been considering either that or a CST. Here's what Casey at SoCal Super Trucks said:

The Cognito kit drops down the lower a-arms and retains the torsion bars in the stock position for added ground clearance in the middle of the truck. Cutting of the differential is required on this kit and it will increase the track width on the front end by about 1" per side. The 4" kit with rear lift and rear shocks would be about $2025 + $550 for labor and computer alignment. If you don't want to increase the track width or cut the differential the CST kit would be the best option but is a 6" lift. Pricing on the CST kit with front & rear shocks would be $2290 + $675 for install and computer alignment. Let me know what you think...
Thanks again,
Casey

I like the look of the Cognito kit though, with the front diff dropped it almost gives it the SFA look from behind the front wheels. I thought I had read here that the track width increase with the Cognito kit was only 1/2" per side, not a full 1" each side.

Cool Roadshark! Cant wait to see your ride lifted.
Hey man, do you know if Cognito offers a Uniball upper arm for their suspension kits yet? I had ball joints on my last lifted truck and I would much rather run the uniball upper arms on my new LMM truck when I lift it since they dont have the problems that ball joints have...
That was one of the reasons I was leaning towards CST since they offer that uniball arm for both their 6"-8", and 9"-11" inch kits.

I used to have ball joints in my old truck to, the uniballs sure made a difference.

I heard using the CST uniball upper arm is possible on the Cognito kits.
I also haven't heard of anyone having any trouble with Cognito's upper arm.

Something you guys need to remember is that the Cognito spindle kit has less stress on the UCA because it has a wider ball joint span. But if you want to up-grade to a uni-ball Cognito UCA I might be able to. Uni-Balls look sick:D .

This is something that is on my web site...

Here's something to help you visualize the scenario:
We all have bench pressed weights - You have your hands spread 15 inches apart on the bar with 10 lbs. on either end. No problem - you have as much stability as you would need with such a low weight. Now put 35 lbs. on either end of that bar and keep your hands at the same 15 inch span. The bar becomes unstable and the short span makes it impossible to keep control. Now increase the span of your hands to 25 inches. The stability is regained and you have no problem handling and controlling the weight.
15 inch span, 10 lbs. = Stock truck & stock tire size
15 inch span, 35 lbs. = A-arm drop kit & larger tires
25 inch span, 35 lbs. = Cognito spindle design & larger tires

Im with you guys! Those new black 07/08 trucks look really awesome lifted!

Im planning on making my black on black New body GMC look like ths first one for sure. Havnt heard much about the Superlifts, which is the lift on that first truck, but I think it will be between the CST and Cognito for me.
Would be cool if Cognito made a skid plate for their kits though.

Heres another New Lifted GMC HD I came across online. Not sure what lift was on it, but it looks to be some where around a 6" inch lift with 35" tires. That new front end looks even bigger when lifted like this... The New Body's HUGE front Grill opening really provides alot more air for that Big-O intercooler and radiator. :D

Welcome hawaiigmc! :)
I know there are a few places you can go to order a lift online for your truck...
Performancelifts.com[/url] has some suspension lift kits for sale online.
Heres a link to their lift kits for the HD Trucks:
http://performancelifts.com/cgi-bin/cart/scan/fi=products/st=db/co=yes/sf=category/se=GM%2001-07%20HD%20Lifts/op=eq/tf=sku.html

Not sure how competetive their prices are, but there are also a few members here on Diesel Place who do suspenion lifts and can get you a good deal on them for these trucks.
Nick at Norcal can help you out from the West Coast, and Marcsanz from the East Coast. Drop them a Private Message and Im sure they will be happy to help you find a good lift for your truck. Heres Nick's website:
www.NORCALTRUCK.com (http://www.NORCALTRUCK.com)
He has a ton of trucks hes done lifts on so you can get some ideas for your ride. I think hes even got a new body 07 hes working on doing a lift right now.

Hope that helps man! Good luck!

Hahahah. I liked it before it was wrecked. It took nearly 7 weeks to "finish". I just picked it up and when I got it, it didnt have A/C (never charged it after they put it back together), frame is still bent, headlight is all fogged up, missing a lug nut and some other minor issues. I am not happy. I am taking it to another body shop this week. I think they will be able to help me. :(

Hey Joe, that's rad! I think I'm goin CST afterall. I talked to a few folks here, did a little reading up, and looked at pics of trucks with both lifts. They both sound like the cream of the crop, but I liked the CST just a hair better. I think the CST looks slightly better, since it's a full drop it looks better (to me anyway) with something visable under the front end so that it looks like it has a solid suspension, even though it's still IFS. The Cognito still looks like empty space making it look too much like a lifted 2wd. Maybe I'm just too old fashioned when it comes to 4wd suspensions but most 4x4 IFS looks too much like 2wd suspension to me. CST seems to come the closest to looking like a SFA without actually going to a SFA. I don't know if anyone else see's things like me, maybe I'm just weird :D
Anyway, I'll be biting the bullet soon. I'll probably go with 33" BFG MT's on Alcoa's - the one's with round holes that look sort of like rear dually wheels from the side (anyone know which ones those are?)

I just picked it up and when I got it, it didnt have A/C (never charged it after they put it back together), frame is still bent, headlight is all fogged up, missing a lug nut and some other minor issues. I am not happy. I am taking it to another body shop this week. I think they will be able to help me. :(

Man that sucks.... hope it all works out.

Cool RoadShark! Your Truck is gonna look so sweet with that 6 inch CST kit man!
I totally agree with you 100% on the looks of the CST Lift kits...
While the Cognito kits are really good kits and look nice, the whole look of the CST kits installed looks slightly better IMO as well. Especially the way it drops down and cages the front diff. I also like the fact that CST makes an afermarket skid plate for their lift kits.
Are you planning on doing the CST dual shock upper arm, or the rear deavers RoadShark?

Post some photos as soon as you get your truck done ok man!:ro)

Thanks Joe I'll definately get pics up when it's done. No deavers for me, I like a stiffer ride, I might even go with add-a-leafs. I'm not sure about the dual shocks, depends on $, which is a little tight, but maybe :)

Oh I just realized that was my first post. I've been lurkin' for years, I run pretty much all chevys @ my company, but I have Ford f350 crew trucks for my one tons (stupid IFS will not hold up to oilfield abuse) and I myself drive an 08' F250 FX4 Crew w/the 6.4. I do have one big block 02' 3500 service truck, a 2500 LBZ and a Kodiak c4500 4x4 (that rides like a brick :p: ). I love the LBZs but never could get used to the "slant eyed" headlight look. off the 8in lift truck on there and you have a truck I might trade my 08 FX4 for. :)

Seriously.

What kind of milage are ya'll getting on the LMMs? My 6.4 is killin' me @7-9mpg in town; 11-12 on highway.

Any pictures of full front bumper replacement trucks? Something like RoadArmor; or Trailready?

I still can't get used to the bigass mirrors on the sides of the front bumper, but the black paint sure make it less noticable. :p:

Hello everyone, first time to diesel place. Waiting for my new 2008 GMC and wanted to know if anyone has seen 38.5x14.5 tires on one of these trucks? I was thinking of the 8 or 9 inch Fabtech lift but wanted to go bigger than 35's or 37's. Anyone have experience, knowledge on how big I can go?:) :) :) :)

That white one looks stupid. When would you ever need 8" of lift. Oh wait, You would need that much to go 16" bigger on your tires. Say from 33 to 49's.
Tall is going out of style. If you want bigger tires you can do it with mild to no lift with proper bumpstops and fender trimming if you need to trim. You will then have a truck that rides like stock and handles like stock and you won't look like a redneck that got a pay check. I just did a lift on a different type of vehicle and the suspension companys said 8-11 inches of lift. I did it with 4-1/4" and it looks, drives and flexes fantastic. Don't be fooled by suspension companys claims that you need to be that high for anything. Do your home work and adjust your bumpstops and you can clear bigger tires without the 70's look and performance. You want cool? Mark and trim your fenders to perfection with a cheap jigsaw metal blade only where your tires hit. You can get extended flairs to cover the opening if you need too. Next adjust your bumpstops till the tire won't hit the fender. If you need to pound the inner fender for clearance. Do it neatly then hide your trax with under coat. Lifting a rig so high to just get bigger tires to fit is the lazy, expensive way giving the worst results overall unless your after the redneck look and want your rig to drive like crap. Look close at professional off road rigs and you won't see more than a few inches of up travel and you will see larger fender openings because thats what works best.

And I don't think big lift's look 70's, or 80's. Yes the Chevy bumper is Chrome plastic. You need to be very carefull so it dosn't start flaking later down the road. We have done a few and sorry they are not on this or my site. The trucks we did had just alittle trimming to the inside of the bumper so I didn't have any issues.

Just to let you know..... I have been getting all the new trucks and other new stuff ready to install on my site and should have it all up in the next few weeks.

You cannot be serious, I have had 3 different HD trucks lifted. They all ride and handle much better than stock. I am not a redneck that just got a check, in fact I have not got a paycheck in 4 years. I may not for a few more years, that makes me no better than anyone. People that lift their trucks do it as a personal preference. They (we) like the looks of them lifted, many others do too. Just because you have to "engineer" your truck to tuck a tire into it does not mean that you wrong it is just your preference. Just because you cannot afford the 6-7,000 that is cost to do this mod you should not hold it against the people that can. You clearly have a jealousy factor to us that can, and it is understandable, I mean hell look at these trucks, how could we possibly want to drive our trucks when we could go get into a 10 year old POS that is "engineered".

Act like a troll be treated like one.

You clearly have a jealousy factor to us that can, and it is understandable, I mean hell look at these trucks, how could we possibly want to drive our trucks when we could go get into a 15 year old POS that is "engineered".

Or you may just like coming on here and acting like a troll. Of course if you have 6-7,000 to blow you may be able to go out and buy yourself 2 more trucks like the one you have now. Get a life you prick.
Ok then fill me in. Why would you lift a truck that high and put small tires on it? It serves no practical purpose other than to gain attention. You lift a rig to install larger tires. Practicallity and some sense would tell you not to lift the truck any higher than you need too to fit the tire. You saw in the example above how a milder lift with a little neat trimming resulted in a truck without the high center of gravity. When you go up you should go out. You can't go out enough to accomadate that much lift and need springs that are so stiff that you can't ever take advantage of the suspension so why do it? You do it to impress the high school kids in the mall parking lot. As far as my rig goes...It's just a truck to hual my rock crawler. I allways negociate a company car. Currently Ford Edge. Maybe my bias towards suspension that serves a porpose is not freindly to you mall cruisers but hey it's just the internet!

Or, to show New LMMs you have seen lifted so to give ideas for guys like us who have the trucks on how we would like to lift them.

NOW...
Back to original topic of this thread. Lifted LMMs...

Thanks for all the awesome pics guys! I think I learned a lot about my preferences now.

A) 35s with 20's is not enough tire, the 38s and up look better
B) These trucks look sick with the front bumper color matched
C) I hate these square wheel wells. The bigger you lift it the worse they stick out.

The new body style is going to have to grow on me before I dump my '02!

Ok then fill me in. Why would you lift a truck that high and put small tires on it? Mine is not lifted that high with small tires on it. Mine are 35" tall with a 7" lift. It serves no practical purpose other than to gain attention.I honestly could give a chit less about attention, I personally like my truck and if other people do to then that is a compliment meaning I have good taste in styling as others. But I do not base my decisions on what others like. You lift a rig to install larger tires. My tires are 6" bigger than stock, my lift is set at 7"s so basically keeping the same ratio as factory. Practicallity and some sense would tell you not to lift the truck any higher than you need too to fit the tire. My tires are 6" bigger than stock, my lift is set at 7"s so basically keeping the same ratio as factory. You saw in the example above how a milder lift with a little neat trimming resulted in a truck without the high center of gravity. You read in Andrews post (although I rarely agree with him) "Ya, you might not be able to jump it in the Baha Dessert Races, or take a corner @ 100 MPH but it's a heavy diesel truck and they're not even designed to do this from the factory" When you go up you should go out.You can't go out enough to accomadate that much lift That is not true, some lifts increase the width, however the one (CST) that I have does not. My previous 2 did (RCD) and need springs that are so stiff that you can't ever take advantage of the suspension so why do it? As I said in the post you quoted "they ride better than factory so again you are mis informed in your reasoning. You do it to impress the high school kids in the mall parking lot. I have 2 daughters in high school and they hate my truck, not because it is lifted but because it is hard for them to get in and out in their dresses or skirts, I do not go to the mall for anything and as I said I could care less about what others think. As far as my rig goes...It's just a truck to hual my rock crawler. I allways negociate a company car. Nice gig there buddy, my truck is also my company vehicle, tell me you would not trade a damn edge for my truck. Currently Ford Edge. Maybe my bias towards suspension that serves a porpose is not freindly to you mall cruisers but hey it's just the internet! The good suspensions will do what they are intended to do on a 7-8,000 LB truck,

Hey since this is the internet and I cannot see the oh shit look on your face. If you are so anti lifted trucks why in the **** are you even looking in this thread anyway? Does it make you feel a tingle, going down your body.

I was at a boat show in Little Rock a few years back on a slow thursday. A coporate Correct Craft engineer was taking his turn working the show and he told me two thing I'll never forget: They will give a 5 year unlimited engine warrenty if you run Mobil 1 15w50 and the 351 had 1/5 the warrenty claims as the 350.

Is the 351 the new engine they are running in those new Correct Crafts? Unfortunately, I've haven't been on the up and up lately with what engines they are running these days in those boats....is this good or bad for the new boats?
01Cummins, please do confirm what kind of boat that is, I really like the looks of the hull design, a pretty decent V that looks like it could handle some reasonably rough water without murdering my kidneys.....

That boat is a Centurion Enzo. If you want a tow boat that will cut through the chop Manke, look at a Tige or a Sanger. The Centurion would be my third choice :), only b/c they ride soooo low in the water, even unloaded.

However the interiors on the Enzo are top notch and the boats have a killer profile.

Thanks, I have trimmed about 8" from the inside of the plastic on the fender (front behind bumper) I have also trimmed about 1 1/2" of the plastic at the fender at the door, it used to hang down below the body. I was told yesterday by Socal Super trucks this is ONLY common on 10" wide wheels with the lift set at 7". He advised me to cut a pie shaped area out of the actual fender and tuck the plastic and it will be fine. I am going to try that in the next few days.

Hey 072500HD how do you like the ride with the lift on your truck while towing?

I remember that a buddy of mine used to have a 4 door super duty long bed on like an 11 inch lift and 40 inch tires...when he would tow his big trailer, the truck would sway back and forth like crazy on the freeway. Im sure it had a lot to do with the size of lift and tires for sure, but still curious on the new trucks lifted with towing...

Just wondering how the new LMM trucks tow when lifted, compared to stock height.

By the way, seriously man your whole setup is sweet! Your lifted black LMM looks awesome!

I have an '08 on order and love the looks of the lifted rig. But want to make sure that I don't screw up the primary reason I am getting the truck. Any feedback will be awesome.

Talk to and look for member "Da Inferno". He's got a cognito 7-9 in lift I believe. Towing a 33 ft 5th'er. I personally would go 4-6 on the lift max with towing a 5th, but you can go bigger.....of course need to flip the axles.

LOL... I already knew I was correct about that one! I may not know jack about our trucks, but I know my towboats! :D

Actually I was about an hour away from pulling the trigger on a 08' Enzo, but the local centurion / CC dealer is a friend of mine and he stopped me (even though I was gonna buy from him)... he said there were some stuff I wouldn't like if I was totally happy w/ my Tige. It was just minor stuff that's just really personal preference... so don't think I'm bashing the boat.

Speaking of boats.... I hooked up my 5K lb. boat yesterday to test the new LMM. I took a short jog down the turnpike with it and only saw 10 mpg :( ... kind of sad, considering I'm getting 20 on the same stretch unloaded. I'm dreading what it's gonna do when I put the 6" lift and 35's next week.

Well, my truck is not nearly that big.... I can't say it was to bad at all. I cannot compare to a stock LMM towing because I have never done it. I can compare to my buddy's 2004 CC SB 2500 (he is the one that owns the toy hauler that is in my pictures) My truck actually pulled better than his. More power, less bumpy, just felt like more control overall. No swaying.... of course I did have about $1500 worth of sway control and weight distribution to help out. (Love my new Blue Ox SwayPro) No problems at all. It towed great. I was a little light on the front axle and I will be adding air bags in the near future.

My wife actually wants me to buy a 40' WW 5er... GVW is 17,000 but that is fully loaded with 4,400 in payload. That will be the real test. It is a little on the heavy side. But the only thing that we will ever put in the garage is our dogs. Kind of a sad reason to buy a toy hauler but..... whatever works I guess. We do have one of these preordered.
http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/garageimage.php?do=full&p=37873
I suppose it might go with us sometimes.... only weighs in at about 2100. Shouldn't be a big deal. If it is nasty to pull. I will just "donate" this truck to my company (tax write off) it will still be my daily driver there and buy a 3500 DRW for a tow vehicle (as much as I hate hips if there is not something in tow.......) My business partner swears by the new Ford F450 but I just can't stand the thing. GM's are just so much more comfortable and I don't feel like I am headed to a jobsite every time I get in.

Thanks for the compliments, I love the truck. Are you going to lift yours as well? What are your plans for it?

I just got mine done at So Cal Supertrucks. Just picked it up today. I'll get some pics up, maybe I can take a few tonght even - I managed to get it in the garage. 6" CST, 33" BFG MT's on Mickey Thomson Classic Locks! :) Also they took some pics of the install and they'll be sending them to me, I think it'll be up in their gallary too. It got a lot of attention being a reg cab Dmax! Anyway, I'll be back with some pics....

Dude Roadshark your truck looks SOOOOO SWEET man!!! You chose a great combo with that CST lift and wheels/tires!:ro) :ro) :ro)

It really makes it look like a whole new truck!

So, how do you like everything so far with the new lift on and all?

Thanks guys, so far it's great! I've only drivin it home from San Bernardino to San Jacinto so far, but it was a great ride, nice and stable. Even though they're only 33's, I noticed I can just about see across the hoods of semi's when I pass them, and see into their cabs. And even though the lift is almost the same amount as I had on my '78 with the same tires, it is very definitely a lot higher than my '78 was. I'm off work tomorrow but I'm actually looking forward to Monday so I can show my friends at work :) Finally I'll be sitting up there level with that lifted F250 PS in the parking lot at work ;)

GMCJOE, I wish I could find more pics of that truck but that was the only one. There was no info on the truck so I'm not sure what brand of billet grille that is. As far as the billet GMC emblem you can find them at this link!;)

Would love to see that Huge Monster LMM in person though. :D

Also, thanks for the billet emblem link. I think a Nice Big Billet Grill will be the next mod I do after tinting the front windows.

Oh yeah, heres another new LMM truck that was on Ebay. 2008 HD with an 8 inch Fabtech with 37s and 20s.

Does it look too low in back? It only has 3" rear blocks. They said they changed "something" because it originally was "too high in back" after the install.

yeah, I know that you can order a dodge 3500 with single rear wheel, and I knew the ford f350 used to be able to be ordered with single rear wheel, but I've never seen a chevy 3500 without dual rear wheels. So, everyone who has a lifted 07 GMC/Chevy truck...........with your lift and 33 or 35 inch tires, can you still tow as well? Any problems or suggestions, things I should watch out for if I'm going to lift 6" and put some 33 or 35s on with 20 inch rims? I've still gotta be able to tow a 10k boat/trailer rig. gotta catch dem fish. :D

My LMM has 16" of lift, 40" Toyos and I pull a 10K boat\trailer. No problems at all.

thanks for the kind words...yeh i was really please with the straight angles of most of the stock suspension pieces...it is set right on 6" and i actually need to bump it up due to some slight rubbing on the inside fenderwells under a hard turn....i loved the truck before but i love it even more now...the ride quality is better than stock to me...the tires are a little loud but still has a very smooth ride...

The White long bed was trimmed, in front of the wheel and on the back side. I had to cut the fender back a bit to clear. The lift is a Rancho 4" turned up to about a 5" with bags in the back to help level.:beerchug:

I paid right at 1,000.00 for the steps, I bought them online at www.truckaddons.com they beat any online price. So if you tell them you saw them at electricsteps.com they will beat the price. I ordered them Monday around noon and they got to my office on Wednesday, so very quick shipping also.

The rear windows as well as the back doors are limo, the front doors are tinted 20. They are illegal but they look much better that way.

My first lifted truck. I still can't belive that you can pitch this thing sideways with 35" tires and its still stock.

I'm getting a six inch BDS lift and 35x12.50x20 mickey t atz on ultra goliaths done on monday-tuesday. Does a six inch still look pretty big on these trucks? Its an EC/LB black gmc duramax

My pic dosent do the truck justice. The top of the fender well is at 4' and the top of the hood is around 5 1/2'. =Personaly I would'nt go any higher but thats my opinion. I am 6' tall and I barely get my knee up high enough to get in the bed of the truck.

^^^^^^ that truck looks good! funny I was just asking a guy at a tire shop about doing a lift and seeing what they had available in an on the road tire type application with some super singles. And he was trying to tell me that it just wouldn't work

Not saying I'll go that route but I do like it and those tires will last a loooong time I'd bet.

AnealsZ71, that dually is frickkin nice!!! The super singles are pretty cool, but i personally like dual rear wheels. If i bought a new truck, thats exactly what i would buy with alcoas. Bad...ass!!!

There is a very small amount of cv angle but nothing like I have seen on some of these california lifts on this site. I will post a pic soon of the frount suspension. The ride quality is great! When I bought the truck the plan was to level it out and stick some nice rims and a little bigger tire on it. After the leveling kit I changed my mind because it rode so crappy. I was driving around a 50K sherman tank.

So "California lifts" are the only ones that have bad CV angles? You've only been on this site since August and you're already making this assumption? I wish i wasn't so busy here at work or else i would continue bashing you for making such a fallacious argument.

everybody and there mom has one like yours. you shouldn't really brag about how yours is the best looking when it looks like most of them out there. i like how you put in parentheses "Strong kit" after the description of your lift. and by the way, those ultra goliaths are pretty much the ugliest wheels I have ever seen.

i have the exhaust for it but the front passenger side shackle bracket is in the way so i have to get the front pipe modified to clear it. does that make sense?

Really nice trucks all of them ! Myself most likely I would do just a 4" lift but it suites me . Plus I got this busted up leg thats been broken for 7months now and I'm not sure I would be able to get out/in of some of those trucks with 9 - 12 lifts on them lol . We shall see how I heal . Car vs motorcycle I lost .

Thanx! Those wheels not sticking out is due (I think) to the backspacing in the wheel we chose.
