about a 4weeks ago I put new pump and filter on ran good no troubles before. about 2weeks ago it didnt start the pump would run there was fuel to the filter but not to the injectors. Iordered a used pmd in the mean time about a week later I tried to start it and it started right up and has been running ever since. I put the pmd on when I put it on and started it it reved up had lots of smoke then died I did it 3 times then put the other back on and it ran fine does anyone know what could be the trouble? thanks

What color smoke?
Did you time it afterwards? Have you checked glow plugs?

The next time it stalls pull the fuel filter and look at the fuel level in the housing. A cranky lift pump can cause all kinds of issues.

Which pump did you replace? Lift pump or injection pump?
Sounds like the used PMD you bought is used up.

quantum mechanic &nbs p; &nbs p; &nbs p; &nbs p; &nbs p; &nbs p; the smoke was med grey and black do you have to time it just switching the pmd? never checked the glow plugs

Excuse me if I confused supply pump with Injector pump.
The first thing to check is fuel supply. I have mine riged so I can power the lift pump easy. I'd suggest putting the truck in gear, where it won't start and holding the key on start or jumping the lift pump at the relay to prime the system with the bleed on the filter open a little. If you're passing air you either have a leak or the liftpump isn't getting enegized by the OPS. Relay around the OPS or wire it off the ign, what ever works best for you.
