My 01 dmax has recentlly started 'bucking' or coughing while accelerating. It seems to be worse in the morning or when it is cold but can always be felt around 1600-2000 rpms, after that or before it runs smooth. I have tried it while in tow/haul mode and it can be felt much more while in tow/haul. I had a predator tuner on it when this problem started but have restored it to stock-tune and the problem persists. I havent noticed any smoke or drastically worsened fuel economy but It sure is annoying. The truck has 72k miles and hasnt had any injector work done yet, could it be injectors? The oil doesnt smell like diesel or overfull.
I havent experienced a ses light and the predator tuner doesnt pull any codes. What would be the next thing for me to check out? Thanks for your help.

Just took truck to dealer this morning, They called and said no codes and one injector is out of spec. They say "GM" wants them to replace the one bad injector and see if the problem is cured. They dont want to replace all 8 unless the one will fix the problem. Is this common procedure? I thought I read somewhere on the 01s and 02s that there supposed to replace all 8? Also should I have to pay the 100 dollar deductable or is this waived under the extended warranty???

Thanks

There is a TSB in which GM says to replace all 8. They also will waive the $100 deductable.

Thanks Max ,

Talked to dealer on friday and they ended up replacing all 8 and there going to replace the pump also because replacing the injectors did not fix the problem. It has been one week now without my truck I sure hope it is done soon. It seems to me that they are just throwing parts at this thing, but i guess i shouldnt complain im getting a new pump at 74k miles.

One week? That's fast. Be happy.
