: Does locking rear work in reverse?

I have had the experience twice, once backing on ice and once on muddy asphalt that the right rear wheel was spinning and the left never caught. I was giving it as light a foot as possible with the 6spd Allison (in reverse of course). The back of the truck was walking sideways to the right and I darn near hit a car parked next to me. I have a crewcab longbed 2006 LBZ and the bed was empty. When I first got the truck, the right rear wheel would sort of hop when I made a right turn on pavement; it doesn't do that anymore. I am a total newbie; this is my first truck, first locking rear, first 4WD, and first GM vehicle so I didn't know what to expect. It is still under warranty, so if it needs fixing, it's going back to the stealer.

Try the Eaton web page. They explain how it works on there. I don't remember if they say anything about reverse.

I think it should work, but the more I think about it, the less certain I am.

Mine works in reverse, I have the marks in the front yard to prove it. My 15 year old was moving it, after giving it a bath. She stepped on the go pedal a little harder than she should have. Twin marks just over 8' long. Great conversation piece.

Yes, and it makes backing up on ice a real PITA.
