I currently own two 8.1 trucks and am now making the switch over to the DuraMax motor. Just ordered a 2005 Sierra HD with this motor tonight and am wondering how long new orders have been taking. It really doesn't matter when I get the truck but I need a vin number to seal the deal by the end of the year (tax write-off).

Thanks for the info! You guys will be seeing alot of posts from me over here :)

The dealer also told me 6-8 weeks but a Chevy dealer said the Silverado would take longer.

Ordered mine 8/13; made the week of 9/20. Today dealer said arrival is imminent as truck is located in Milpiltas, CA, awaiting transport to dealer. Tomorrow will be 9 weeks.

That's not to bad. One dealer told me that I might not get a build date for a few months if the truck was ordered this week. That made me start to worry. I'll know if my order was accepted next Tuesday.

I ordered mine on 9/16/04 and my TPW is the week of 10/18/04 and I am assuming it will get here around 11/15/04. So my Silvy will take about 8 weeks, start to finish. Dealer had an allocation.

I wonder if ours will share a train down to Texas? http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley17.gif

As mentioned above, my truck was ordered 8/13. I picked it up last night and boy is it a beauty. After driving a '82 6.2 Suburban for all these years, this new honey is like being at Disneyland for the first time. Even the wife loves it...

I ordered mine on 9/7 and it will be at the dealer tomorrow. So, it took 7 weeks from order to delivery. I'm in Northern AZ. :)

Wow! I didn't think these orders would take so long to fulfill; however, I'm sure it'll be worth every moment!

It'll be great to get back into a GM (Chevy) pickup, especially after driving a Ford F250 Super-Duty, ext. cab, 8' box, 7.3L Power Stroke, Auto, for the the past 125K miles and seven years. This Ford had its share of problems between 0-36K miles -- 3 bad fuel injectors, 2 sets of camber bushings, front leaf springs went flat, oil pump on 7.3L went out, then the transmission! For whatever reason, I had all of these problems right off the starting line; but, after that, I could not complain. The Ford dealership immediately repaired every problem; and, once those concerns were addressed, it gave me no troubles and plenty of power! My Dad owns a 2003, Ford, 6.0L and he LOVES it. Nevertheless, he tried to convince me to follow suit. So, I went shopping.

I really liked the Ford, 6.0L, cc/6.5' box; however, after test driving the LLY, I was sold! What a dream! I went to gmbuypower.com, built my new truck and searched the State of California for an exact match. Since I could not find exactly what I was looking for, I placed the order (10/23/2004). The dealership said it will be 10-12 weeks. <OUCH> I'm happy (and envious) for you all!

2005, 2500HD, LT, Duramax/Allison, crewcab, 153" WB, white/med gray. Now I'm wondering what to name it -- most likely 'The White Onion II' (a sequel to a previously owned GMC.)

Keep this post updated as your new trucks arrive!

Thanks, Jeff

I was just told that my truck will be produced next week :) I guess I'll be starting the "mods pile" when I get back from SEMA next week. I'll get some more ideas when I'm out there.

Hey Guys (and gals),

Here's the the short of it: seven (7) weeks, from order to customer.

Here's my timeline:
2005, Chevy, 2500HD, 4x4, Duramax/Allison, LT package, Crew Cab, 6.5’ box, summit white/med. grey, XM, trailer platform, etc., no sunroof, no DVD player (nearly everything else).

Order placed -- Saturday, October 23, ’4 (because that was a Saturday, the order was most likely submitted to, and received by, the manufacturer on Monday, October 25, ‘4);
Built -- Monday, November 22, ‘4;
Shipped -- (approximately) Friday, November 26 (because of Thanksgiving there is some discrepancy);
Rail yard -- Friday, December 3, ‘4 (6 weeks from placing the order to the rail yard); and,
Dealership -- Thursday, December 9, 4 it will be delivered to the dealership (dealership is 5 miles away from the rail yard).

Unfortunately, because of my schedule, I cannot take delivery until December 16 or 17.

In short, from when I placed the order (October 23, ‘4) until the truck was ready for delivery to me (December 10, ‘4) – 7 weeks.

That’s a really LONG 7 weeks!
