: Too often at the pump
Dirt51 06-12-2007, 08:49 AM Looking for ways to get more mialage out of my new LMM (arent we all)
With the short box comes the small tank, and it looks like the range is fairly low. Which means I'll be at the pump a couple times a week (120 miles a day commute) I'm getting ~15mpg now, Can I increase this with programers/intake/exhaust? or should I start looking at aftermarket tanks?
little 06-12-2007, 09:12 AM Programmer will help add 2-4 mpg or more if you keep that heavy foot off the peddel.I don't know if the exhaust helps any on the mpg , but it does help lower the egt's.
Nice look'n truck!
GMC2500HD 06-12-2007, 09:58 AM I get great mileage with my LBZ, but if I was actually worried about it I would not lift my truck, JM2C. Programmer/tuner will give you some advantage but you are not going to get a lot more than you are right now. 2-4 mpg more may be attainable.
blizzardplowman 06-12-2007, 09:59 AM Your lift and tires are not hepling your milage...Play and pay.
Moving this to the power and performance forum.......
jww2124 06-12-2007, 11:59 AM Either way thats a baddass rig, post some bigger pics!!
lakingslayer 06-12-2007, 04:00 PM What is your average MPH? Mine is about 36mph and I average about 14-15mpg with a heavy foot.
Dirt51 06-12-2007, 11:41 PM Thanks for the replies guys.
I run 75-85mph on the freeway in SoCal Mon-Fri and to the desert at least once a month for play time.
2-4mpg would definitely help! Wouldn't adding more horse power help too? (thinking in terms of cold air and exhaust)
jww2124,
Here's the same pic, only larger. I'll have to get more pics this weekend.

Thanks for the compliments guys! I love this truck!
trx-1noob 06-13-2007, 12:54 AM i agree with the mods here. if your gettin 15 mpg, consider yourself lucky. maybe a little more break in, but like stated you pay to play. sweet looking truck.
salmandmx 06-13-2007, 01:06 AM Sweet ride! Dirt51 I run 33's on 20x9 on my LMM. As far as city I see around 14-15mpg. You'll be suprised in the difference in fuel economy going 65-70mph vs 75-85mph. I ran 75 on a 50 mile trip in my truck and avg around 16mpg's and then did the same trip a few days later set the cruise at 65mph and dam if she didnt get 18.8mpg's!

Is your 75-85mph corrected for tire size. At those speeds you will not get the best mileage. The faster you go the faster it drops.
hemisareslow 06-13-2007, 10:24 AM to my knowledge you will not see much if any hp gains with an intake or exhaust...might as well keep your warranty intact and go with a programer
caviglia 06-13-2007, 11:59 AM The sweet spot so far seems to be around 1400RPM. Anybody notice any difference?

Yep around 1400 to little over 1500 for me too.
Orangefuzzy 06-13-2007, 02:52 PM Hi fellas!
I picked up my 07 38' Fuzion 5th wheel yesterday and towed it home a short 22 miles. All I can say is ouch! I watched my 26 gal needle move. I'll submit to the fact the trailer is heavy but damn. I must hae been averaging 7 -8 mpg. I am running 305/55/R20's (Nittos) with a "Ready Lift" front end lift only. I must say I am very impressed with the Ready Lift upgrade. The truck drives like stock and gives me a 5" lift look.
I am very curious as to how some guys are getting 15-17 mpg, stock I only avaraged 10-13 mpgs any time; and no, I do not punch my foot to the firewall either. I drive about 65-76 mph on the frwy. ????
I'll send some pics of the truck as soon as I get um.

salmandmx 06-13-2007, 03:20 PM When I got north of 18mpgs it was cruise set at 60mph (my tires are bigger) so I was probably going 65mph. But when my RPM's hit 2000 then all bets are off. Keep your shifts under 2000 rpm and maintain speeds that are keeping you in the 1500 rpm range. The mpg's oughta go up.. As far as city.. I am averaging 13-14. 15mpg if I am not stopping to much.

Yes, a little "programer" came with the lift to correct tire size for the speedo and air pressure sensors.
to my knowledge you will not see much if any hp gains with an intake or exhaust...might as well keep your warranty intact and go with a programer
So I should just save my money, do a simple programer and be done with it?
Bodysurfer 06-13-2007, 05:06 PM 15-16 mpg on mine also...driving from Corona to OC.
I say put an exhaust system on it and do some type of air mod.

Hey Neighbor, I'll wave as I go North. I drive from Temecula to Ontario.
jdugie123 06-14-2007, 12:40 PM ya the best thing that i saw that helped when i had 35's was to slow down a little

Hehe, hard to do in SoCal, I'll have grannys trying to run me off the road if I go below 70.
thejdman04 06-15-2007, 09:36 PM Ive seem some factory replacment tanks as high as 60 gal, or you can get a tank/tank toobox combo to put in yoru bed.
