Bought a Fram Sure Drain for my truck the other day. It's the same idea as a Fumato Drain valve

It's a replacement for the oil pan drain bolt. You install it and the next time you want to change your oil you screw on the matching drain hose which pushes in on a plunger and let's your oil flow out the drain hose.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley32.gif There's a screw on safety cap which you put on after you remove the drain hose so no oil will leak out even if the plunger seal fails.

At least now I can put my skid plate again and not have to worry about making a mess at oil changes.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley32.gif

It cost $12.50 at the local Advance auto parts store and the part # is SD-2

I've got a Heavier duty version from another manufacturer on my big truck which I've had about 3 years now and it works very well. Hopefully this one will hold up as well.

I'll install it at my next oil change and give an update on how it work's

Last oil change I used a piece of aluminum foil molded as a half funel to make the oil hit the drain pan instead of the skid plate. Worked really well, not a drop on the skid plate and no mess! (first change made a big mess, and I wasn't going to do that again)

What size hammer did that require? http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gif

That Fram drain has a really small hole.

I have had one on my current truck since new and my previous truck for about 2 years, works great no leaks, no problems. It drains the 12 quarts on my truck in about 10 minutes, I always change it hot so that helps, it works without spilling a drop. Great price too, I think Wal Mart has them for $12.95

hoot, what would you recomend? I am actually wanting to get one for my boat(305 engine). Right now we are using the suction method and that is slow, and I do not think we get all the oil.

The dealer uses the paper floor mats on the skid plate and it works great.
