I have a 2002 GMC with the LB7 motor with a few mods. I am thinking of upgrading to an 05 LLY. If anyone has traded up.......what do you think of the new LLY.

Keep your LB7. Only reason to trade up is LLY injectors are easier to replace and you could get a sunroof. Reasons not to: more emissions, much worse fuel mpg for many of us, less power for many of us, less equipment (GM cheaply leaving things off the 05) for more money. 05 LLY is a good truck, but not near the same truck the 02 LB7 was equipped exactly the same.

I love my 04 truck. I like the power potentials of the LB7 a lot better. I like the way the LB7 ran and I also like the fuel mileage of the LB7. The only real advantage of the LLY is that if it ever needs injectors you shouldn't have the down time that you would with an LB7. Edited by: Max Power

I love my 04 and really think there is alot of un-tapped power potential there. I am in the preliminary stages of stacking the juice and the pup and will wait to post my findings....just haven't had a lot of time to play. With that being said...there is really no reason to trade an 02 with 62,000....lots of good miles left and an extened injector warranty if it is every an issue. Just talked to my buddy, his boss has an 02 with 270,000 on the clock and the only thing replaced was a head gasket at 250,000. He hauls boats up and down the east coast as a side job. Pretty nice realibilty there.

After reading several articles on the LLY, I've decided to keep my 2001. It just broke 30K, and I couldn't be happier with it. It's one of the last 2001's made(7/01)-in fact, some 2002's came in on the same shipment as my truck. I'll wait until they come out with the major body change (2007) before I look again.

I've got a '02 just over 90,000 km. I have the latest injectors,
and the extended warranty on them. It has a lot of stone chips
but running the hiway in the winter, one I bought now wouldn't look any
better by spring. The $$$ difference to get into a '05 is
significant. I can upgrade my Ali, buy something to stack on top
of the Juice, get a better stereo (my only real complaint) and still
money left for more toys. A buddy has an '05, really nice truck
but not enough change or improvement for me to write a check. One
of the few vehicles I've owned that I still enjoy driving after this
length of time.
