Have any of you running a straight pipe had an emission issues? Truck needs to go in for testing and I just wanted to make sure. I am not sure what to think because my truck did not have a cat and now has no muffler obviously... Just curious... ThanksEdited by: GMC2500HD

My state of PA doesn't check diesels for emissions but to answer your
question, the muffler is a sound control device, not an emissions
control device. I have not heard of checks or failures on diesel trucks
without mufflers, ever. It may be an issue but I have never heard of it.

Yeah, I straigh piped my 04 (which had cats- but no longer) and gutted
my Banks muffler on my pipe (should have made my own from the get
go-live and learn). I am exempt from emissions like Hoot because I hail
from PA as well, and as long as you didn't have a cat to begin with, I
don't see how you couldn't pass now.

Good luck!

Here in FL I have been told if you register as a heavier GVW vehicle they move you in to the "commercial" category which has fewer regulations. You pay a little more for your registration but thats just what I have been told.
