My transmission doesn't whine anymore. I posted up a while back about mine making a whining sound from the torque convertor/pump area. Apparently, a bushing or bearing went south in the convertor and was causing the hub to rub on the pump. I'll get a picture of the wear on the pump.

But it's all good now! Billet front cover on the convertor, new pump, and a Transgo kit. Let the programmer run free! HAHA!

Id like to see that picture of the wear Ash. Mine's making a whinning from the same area now, but mines a new 1057 converter.

"Billet front cover on the convertor"

What's that? You added a Billet front cover on the factory convertor???

The guy I took my truck to replaced the stock front portion on the torque convertor with a billet piece. It's much thicker and resistant to flexing, cracking, and warping.

It's a shame that the most blinging piece on my truck is somewhere you'll never see it...

Ok, so my digi cam won't take good close-ups. Bear with me...I'll have to explain some of them.

Pic #1 - Convertor hub area in pump. It's painted red from the factory. For comparison.

Pic #2 - Where the hub had rubbed the red paint off.

Pic #3 - Awkward wear pattern on outer portion of inner pump gear.

Pic #4 - I was trying to capture the wear on the outer pump gear. The "load" side was worn.

Pic #5 - The grey area on the "load" side of the inner pump gear. The tooth was showing a good wear pattern (shiny and even) until the last few millimeters of the tooth where it turns to a dull and uneven pattern.
