my damn wife(lol) was driving down the highway with her 2 place horse trailer with tow haul on doing about 70mph. then the rpm`s went up to about 3,000 RPMS.acting weird and the power wasnt like it should be.

so know when i go down the road i floor it and the engine wants to bog down and slowly gain rpm`s. when i give half speed taking off its okay but not like it use to be.it wont shift past 2800 rpms unless i left off the gas.when it was running good it would go up to 3,000rpms and shift fine.
so i took it to the dealer to get the trans service.told them what was going on.they said it could the fuel filter too.okay told them to change the filter too. went back to pick up the truck and they said it still has the problem. so they said to make a appointment to look at it more.
i sure would like to hear some feedback, thanks jeff

Sounds like an engine decreased power (limp mode) event. Is the Check engine light on?

Don't think it's limp mode, Limp will give a code and won't go over 2000 RPM plus will start out in 3rd gear from a dead stop I think. - it resets if you stop the truck and let it sit.

Same question as aobe, getting a check engine light?

no check engine light.it blows black smoke when i try to kick it down and it has no power.think it could be a fuel regulator? sometimes i get that loud banging sound.but not to often.or could it be the injectors?
it goes back in on thursday to the stealer so i will let you guys know.
im just curious what could be wrong.

update:went to the dealer today and they said it is the injectors and they said they will replace all 8 injectors and i didnt have to pay for them to look at the truck. i was like wow not one penny.so they said they ordered them and hope to have them in by weeks end. so far so good.

and you get a new fuel filter free too and that is the usual culprit they say change at 15,000 but i run mine right up to loss of rpms about 36-38,000 miles it is hard on fuel system but $24 is best price i've found for fuel filter
