: Converting to duramax?

Has anyone ever converted a 6.5 to a duramax. I have seen this and
others on ebay
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewIt em&category=33615&item=7926906923&rd=1&ssPag eName=WDVW

wondering what problems there would be and what else would need to be
purchased to make it work. I don't have the funds right now but I may
consider it if I had to replace my motor for some reason. Anyone know
about the pitfalls and problems of this conversion?

You would have to put the ECM, wiring harness, alison tranny and motor. The probabilty of trimming sheetmetal is very high.

The link didn't work it is ebay item #<span ="ebay">7926906923

It includes duramax engine(50 miles on it), allison trans, wiring
harnesses and computers for $6500. I have seen several come and go
through ebay with relatively low miles and most come with all wiring
and computers.

With that package all you lack is something to put it in.

For $6500 it's fairly reasonable.

Yes if you have access to www.thedieselpage.com (http://www.thedieselpage.com) they have a DMAX project truck into a 98 body IIRC, doable but a LOT of work

It could be shoehorned into an H1 I'd imagine.

While shoehorn was a problem biggest problem was making the trons work with devices in the truck, a LOT of problems getting theft lock to work with the truck, newer system not very compatable with older Ignition set up Edited by: Turbine Doc
