They said the new dodge truck would have a Mercedes engine in it in 06 because the Cummins has met its power potential and Dodge needs more power.

Sounds like your dealer is a grade A moron. Typical sales BS. They did it so guys named Niegel can buy diesel trucks and not feel bad about it- because it has a mercedes logo on it somewhere.

Man,I hope your right. This country has already jumped on the Euro bandwagon enouge. We don't need the redneck working man driving that euro-trash.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley11.gifKeep blowing the black greasy American smoke boy's, as CW MCcall said "There won't be no country music, there won't be no rock and roll, when they take away our country, they'll take away our soul....."

dieselfumes - exceeded the power potential?!! Did you watch the clown jump into his hot rod neon when he went home too??? http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/hihi.gif If they go to mercedes, which is quite probable since chrysler/mercedes is all one now. I'm quite sure that it isn't about power, but about using the components that they own, rather than out-sourcing for engines from another company

Dodge will never stop putting a cummins under the hood. I have some dealership buddies who told me there looking to offer it as an option in the future. If they ever do take the cummins out Im buying a stroke

I just thought i would check because i think it would be pretty cool because Mercedes has been making diesels for a very long time and is a quality product. NOT KNOCKING CUMMINS. It would make me want to get rid of my iszuzu duramax in a heartbeat.

Hi,

My Dad will son be driving a new Freightliner with a Mercedes MB 4000.......................nothing wrong with Cummins, BUT they have alot to learn from Mercedes about torque!! Will a Cummins ever hit ts peak at 1150 RPM like the MB engines do? They also have Cummins where my Dad works, and let me tell you , come ETEST time they are a huge pain in the ass, along with cold starting at -45................. A Mercedes option will be the only way I would buy a Dodge truck...................

My 2 cents,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Respectfully

Will

I was told by my service manager that Cummins will not be in the Dodge next year and that Mercedes would be the only choice.

I will believe it when I see it.

Hi Guys,

Thse " FORD CUMMINS " dreams/rumors have been going on for years. Ford does not own cummins. at one pint the owned 21%, but Cummins has bought it back. The rumor was 2500/3500 Dodges had the cummins and when Dodge releases its 4500 line it will have a Mercedes engine, so we will see!!!

Take care

Will
