Hmmmmmm. The truck runs fine but since I was armed with the paper clip code reader, I decided to give it a try.
Got a code 68
That's a transmission slippage code I think.
I reset by flooring the brake and accelerator while it was reading, un clipped the pins, re clipped them and read it again.
same thing
I have not noticed any slippage or shifting problems. The fluid is red and no burned smell.
A little about the truck first. I bought it from the estate of a CAT maintenance man who was anal about his equipment. The Cousin in law had mucked up some of the wiring and that was a fairly easy fix, Aside from that and the cruise control not working, everything is OK.
Since then the only problem I have had was replacing the ignition key tumbler and the end battery shorted and fried my alternator.
It has 120K miles and is going strong.
Where should I go from here?
