Getting ready to replace oil cooler lines. New lines do not come with clips that hold them in block fittings. GM dealer is clueless. :eek:Anyone know the part number for the clips?

Don't reward your clueless dealer. If your intent is to replace OEM with OEM, buy them from SS Diesel and replace the filter adapter o-rings while your at it.

Give serious thought to an aftermarket line/cooler kit commonly used here.

Already have the new oil lines. Just thought I would get new clips in case the old ones were bad. Can't be over a few bucks.
But bigger things need fixed now. I believe I broke a crankshaft yesterday evening. Got it towed home and dread getting the wrenches out to pull the engine. I'll know how much damage after I get the engine out and pull the pan.

Who supplied the lines without retainers? GM, Dorman or ??? The clips for the lines list for $15.00 at GM dealer. part # for a 97 with the1/2in.lines is 8960976.Two packages containing one clip each are needed. 99 & 2000 part# will be different for 5/8 lines.

Awwww... that sort of sucks, Ted. Keep us informed when you get up the gumption to take a look inside...

Ted, sorry to hear about the engine, hope you can fix it. 1) as Dan said, replace those clips, on my 1998 the clips were NA seperately (part of the adapter assembly that treads into the block) but dealer broke open some packs and tossed me the clips. Nice guy. 2) remove the oil filter adapter to make the job easier, replacing those sealing o-rings while you're at it. Good luck!
