What are the current thoughts on filtering post OEM with a lift pump? I am looking to augment my Nicktane.

I think it works like a champ. I have a lift pump feeding through the OEM to my KD Mega filter. The OEM filters out the rocks and the Mega actually filters the fuel to super clean levels.

No starting problems or air issues and power levels are not a problem.

You don't get to change the OEM any less often but it is cheap insurance in my mind.

No shortage of debate on this topic but I have great enjoyed running this setup.

It surely won't hurt anything.. i don't think anyone will caution you about having fuel that's too clean! My guess is whatever you stick downstream from the OEM will probably last the life of your truck (presuming its the 3rd filter inline)

Been doing it for over a year with no problems. Works real good if you put a push button under the hood to bleed air after changing filters before start.

Have about 60K with this setup. Ran both the Cat and Mega in the post position with good results from both. You will appreciate the filter efficiency and conveinance with the lift pump. There are many advantages over stock. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley20.gif

I used the old 6.5 lift pump. I put a 30 micron in front of it and a mega after the OEM. All filters stay full of fuel and I just hold down my button to prime them.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley20.gif There is a wiring diagram that was done by jpblock. PM him and I'm sure he will send you the diagram and a parts list if you want it as well. Bill is awesome!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley32.gif

Super long filter life is nice, but I'd still recommend either changing or draining the secondary at least once a year if not more often. There's just no way of knowing what is in there unless you have a sight glass. One of the key reasons that I chose the Baldwin element was for the ability to drain it off occasionally and see what has collected. If water were to collect, it could cause rust which actually grows the contamination that we are trying to filter out...

JK, I drain mine every time I change the others to see what's in there. So far (knock on wood) there has been nothing but clean fuel.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley32.gif

Not trying to steal the thread here but I have a question for those who have installed post OEM. Did you guys make an attempt to flush the outlet hose prior to start up and if so how. The hose seems pretty clean but I have enough trouble reading the newspaper anymore let alone <10 micron particles....thanks alot guys....Bill

I'll second what JEBar said.
