Recently i tried powerbraking my truck. I thought that i was going to be able to spin the tires. I held the brake all the way to the floor and pushed the gas to the floor. I couldnt get the rpms above 1500. Also i had a chance to try a 0-60 time and it was only 9 secs? This doesnt seem right to me. Any help?
Thanks

Don't you have some pretty big tires and wheels on it?

To power brake your truck you don't need to hold the brake pedal to the floor.. Just apply enough pressure to keep the truck from moving.. Start your pedal about half way depressed, as you add fuel press on the brake as needed... Just practice.. You'll get the hang of it...

Just kidding. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/hihi.gif
But for stock your close although I'm surprised at the rpm. Do you have thick floor matts and weren't getting it to the carpet?I would believe stalling the converter such as you have done would yield 1800/2200.
Hope you expect to smoke the tires stock, prolly won't happen with out some water.

I spin my 315's occasionally(alcohol induced). Just powerbrake it up and let off a little on the brake around 1700+ RPM and usually the rears will come to life. When they do then give her alot of throttle and a little more brake to stop your momentum and you can spin them till you're blue in the face. Soooo that is hard pedal till you get the RPM up and then fade it a little to get them going then more brake again. Line locks would work if you want to spend the money. Good Luck!!!

Thanks for the info everyone, but that about a 0-60 time for a truck with a 4 inch exhaust and a k&n filter?

Very hard to power brake with disk brakes compared to drums. Let it spool up then let off the brake and mash it! I just laid down the longest dual patch of rubber in my life (and I have had some muscle cars)! Juice on level three, I don't remember how many gears I went through, but it was atleast 500ft long. I did it right out in front of Wyo-tech campus where all the ricers lay rubber, my patch dominates the area now! My father was with me he laughed and just shock his head--mumbling something about tire mileage!

Duramax's have consistently run 8.4 sec 0-60 stock.

So would you say that their could be something wrong with my truck. It doesnt have anything but exhaust and intake? Altitude is about 5,000 feet.

My truck will spin my 285's if I power brake to about 1900 RPM. I don't lay a huge strip mind you, but they definitely light up for a second. Nine seconds sounds about right, for an LLY anyway.
