DHRA is having an event nearby me (25 miles or so) so I am thinking of giving it a try in the work stock class. I don't have anything to wild done to my truck and don't expect to do anything amazing there, just want to give it a try.

Anyone got any pointers...what level to have the programmer on, any tricks to protect the truck...I have read to use 4 LO 3rd gear. How do I enter or register.

Any tips will be appreciated by the newbie. Thanks.

Programmer all the way up, lower your torsion bars, 26" hitch as close to the back of the truck as you can get it. 4low 3rd gear is good. Register an hour or so before the event.

Thanks, I appreciate the help. Hopefully nothing breaks in the truck! Should be fun though.

Well I made some spring clamps and am making some axle stops today, getting some straps today too. Hopefully I don't break anything, I am driving to Virginia Beach in a few weeks and need the truck. Do I need anything done to my exhaust? I have 4" MBRP going out the back stock location.

Can I use a Pintel hitch for my receiver?

So you don't have tie rod sleeves or pitman/idler supports? If not, go talk to Mark at Huckstorf Diesel, and get them. He is a supporting vendor. Unless your good with the idea of strapping... Tie rods could still break even though you have it strapped. I would love to see ya come out, but I don't want to see you break something the first time out.

Yeah I know I should get them on but I didn't realize the pull was this weekend until Monday I think it was. Not a lot of time to get prepped starting from scratch. I don't really like the strapping idea, but if it helps some I thought maybe give it a try. If it breaks then get it fixed.

If you drop ypur t-bars way down and strap the centerlink you should be fine, but sleeves would be a good idea soon if your gonna keep pullin:cool:

Well, I didn't get a chance to participate in the sled pull, I have a small home improvement business beyond my regular job that buys my toys. Well duty called and I worked Saturday. I did make it to watch though, I showed up just after 7:00 so I didn't miss much. The show was great and I really want to do it know. Thanks for all the advice. I plan on doing the next pull in SouthEastern WI. If anybody knows of the next diesel pulls, DHRA or not, please let me know. Thanks

take a look at hdiesel.com Mark has a calander of local events

With a 6speed allison pull the truck down into M mode and put it in TH and click the little +- button till you get it to 3rd when you go to tighten the chain. It will start in 1 but wont go past 3
