I don't drive it daily beacuse its the wifes but I drove it today and it has no power. Sounds fine, no studdering, nothing...just has no power. Feels like I am driving a 4.0...

I checked air filter its clean.

The fuel gauge broke last month so it was in the shop for new fuel pump and stuff. They put in a new fuel filter at that time.

Any ideas why I got no power?

Grady, has she complained about loss of power?? the reason I ask is now that you are driving a juiced dmax...most anything else you drive will feel like a dog. Also any codes being thrown?? check the catalytic converter..possibly clogged or restricted...

You got 8.1 gasser...its the cat...passenger side is clogged...think the honey combs collapsed...

Funny thing though...no codes.

Is there a Fed Emmision regulation warranty through gm on the cats...meaning will my dealer put on a new one for free?

IF not for free should I get a non oem aftermarket exhaust that is better anyways?

Thanks for the quick reply 8.1 gasser as I am under the truck right now!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley4.gif

Do not rule out the possible deposit build up in combustion chamber
raise compression a tad and a shift in fuel quality has can ECM to
retard spark greatly to prevent knock (when it works right you never
here it) and this would greatly reduce performance as well. Try some
higher grade gas and see what happens.

Grady, I'm not sure how GM or the fed may handle it...as far as an aftermarket one..the oem ones actually flow very well, but the cost from the stealer is up there...I would run down to your local auto parts store and pick up a new one.

Gradyghost - IRRC the emission warranty is 8yr/80,000....If that is the case, you converter is under factory warranty...

I hope this is true for you because a new gm converter is big coin http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley11.gif

The length of the warranty depends on weather it is federal or Calif.
Also aftermarket converts are a lot cheaper than GM ones to (GM has
them made for them, anyway and marks them up)
