I've noted in QM's signature "ported intake". I'm curious to know how this is done and what other similar mods I could do. Also, as far as I know, there are no after market air filter systems made for my 6.5 na. Any suggestions on how I could modify the stock filter set up for better flow?

Thanks

Check out www.kennedydiesel.com (http://www.kennedydiesel.com). Look in their "Tech Tips" section.

i use a 3 in pvc elbow into a large cylindrical k&N filter. it looks a little ghetto, but it gets the job done. less dirt bypasses and there is a ton more filter area. really lets you hear the turbo whine as well. ill post a pic if i get a chance

Ported intake sounds good, but turbo whine sounds better. This is what I recommend you put on your 6.5L, thumbsmaher. Turbo and an intercooler of any type.

and if not that then fabricate a RAM AIR intake. Like floyd said the 3" cone filters are cheap and easy to incorpoate. They sell knock offs with cotton fiber filter media at walmart for $20. Edited by: quantum mechanic

My engine is naturally aspirated, non-turbo. I guess the intake set up is just like a 6.2

pfloydncsu,

If you read the air filter study you would not say that cleaner air is flowing thru your K & N

but there are other "better" filters that could be used in place of that free flowing K&N right ?
