I put this in the Ford section originally but know one has responded. So thought i might try here. Friend of mine has a 97 Ford powerstroke with , Superchip, stock downpipe but straight pipe on the rest, stock air filter, and egt in the manifold before turbo. He pulls alot of HEAVY cattle trailers and wants to know when to start backing off cause of high egts ?

just a guess.....but I'd say to back off before 1,400... just a guess. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley9.gif If he has an automatic, it would not be the EGT's I'd be worried aobut. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif

Tell him he needs to keep that 97 down below 1250. Short bursts above are not to bad, just no long hill runs above 1250. John

Yeah , it is an automatic trans. and he has the chip on the low 40 hp setting at this time if that matters. I hit 1200 ' in it the other day while running it up to like 70-75 mph or so empty !
