: Roll-N-Lock
Road Boss 10-28-2003, 10:37 PM Has anyone have a bed cover from roll n lock? I was checking out the website ( www.rollnlock.com (http://www.rollnlock.com) ) to see what products they have. I know the system is not water proof. You would think so for a 700 plus system.
DalDMax 10-29-2003, 09:01 AM I know you didn't ask for opinions but check out Retrax. Don't know anyone who has a Retrax that has been unhappy with it.
alankholic 10-29-2003, 07:01 PM I have a roll n lock, my only complaint is the mounting system, pretty hokey for the price, other than that, good.
Anyone heard of or anyone with the Webasto E-Z power tonneau? I like the Retrax but can probably get a deal on this so was considering it. Never heard of anyone buying one before.

blowingsmoke 11-04-2003, 04:51 PM That looks pretty cool - I got home last night to a box sat on the door step http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif(don't you agree that it's like christmas when that happens http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif).. Should have Truxedo Low Profile on this weekend. I'll let you know what I think.
blowingsmoke 11-05-2003, 08:35 AM Added the Truxedo low profile last night on my own - Took me about 20 mins.. So easy to install and operate. I guess now we'll see how it stand the test of Texas storms and Michigan snow http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif.
Road Boss 11-05-2003, 10:01 AM blowingsmoke, do you have any pictures?
blowingsmoke 11-05-2003, 11:31 AM No I dont - I'll try and get some tonight if the light holds out. Dam that time change http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif.

wlkjr 11-05-2003, 09:45 PM I have a Roll N Lock and it's great if it's adjusted correctly. Some water does get into the bed but not a great deal. Very sturdy and well made.
Road Boss 11-05-2003, 10:53 PM wlkjr, do you have any pictures?
blowingsmoke 11-06-2003, 08:22 AM Ok - here are the pics of the Truxedo Low Profile

Road Boss 11-06-2003, 11:53 PM Thanks for the pictures. Nice cover.
Diesel Dad 11-07-2003, 08:57 AM I have had three rolling covers:
1). Armor-roll - don't even think about it
2). Roll-n-lock - three major issues: i). Vinyl gets white lines on it when driving with cover open due to rubbing against aluminum slats, doesn't come off ii). Freezes shut easily in the winter. iii). Strap to open and close can get caught in driveshaft while towing
http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif
3). Retrax - best of the three IMHO but I did have some damage to my rails due to a problem with the latch, need to see what manufacturer does about it. Locks open all positions, low maintenance, does not freeze shut as easily.
Hope that helps.
Road Boss 11-07-2003, 07:28 PM Thanks Diesel Dad. Great info.
cricket 11-07-2003, 08:01 PM Diesel Dad I have a Retrax also and love it. I was wondering what happened to your latch to mess up the side rails. Maybe I could avoid the problem if I knew what to look for.http://dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Question.gif
Diesel Dad 11-09-2003, 10:14 AM Here is a picture of what happens to a Roll-n-lock when you drive with it locked open:
http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/uploads/FA5_DSC00024.JPG
I had it replaced once and it did the same thing all over again. IMHO, I'd only buy an RNL if I planned to keep it closed almost all the time.
Diesel Dad 11-09-2003, 10:35 AM Here is a picture of the damage to the driver's side Retrax rail:

Retrax says that it was caused by the latch being misadjusted but I am not to the bottom of the matter yet.
Diesel Dad 11-09-2003, 10:38 AM Has anyone have a bed cover from roll n lock?* I was checking out the website ( www.rollnlock.com (http://www.rollnlock.com) ) to see what products they have.* I know the system is not water proof.* You would think so for a 700 plus system.
The most waterproof system is the Armor-roll. It also freezes shut the best. They all keep most water out. They all leak a little. Have not found leaking water to be a problem compared to freezing shut.
Road Boss 11-10-2003, 02:59 AM Thanks for the photos! This kind of makes my choice a little hard.
Max Power 11-10-2003, 09:45 AM Road Boss, go with retrax. You won't be disappointed.
cricket 11-10-2003, 12:48 PM Thank you Mr Dad (may I call you Diesel) It kind of looks like the latch wont stay put. The indintations on the rail look like its adjusted tight enough to hold it. I will keep an eye on it. Luckily I keep it closed most of the time but I selected that type of cover to use open when needed. If you discover anything more let us know. Thanks again
Road Boss 11-10-2003, 04:34 PM I just found out about Bedlocker. www.pace-edwards.com (http://www.pace-edwards.com) It looks like the roll n lock system. Just something else to through out there. Retrax is being highly recommend so I guess I will give them a try.
Got Juice? 11-11-2003, 01:48 AM my roll n lock is cool, same lines on it as above picture. they all freeze shut to some extent. i went with roll n lock and i am pretty happy with it. Much more convenient when you haul a lot of trailers, instead of a hard tonneau.

Max Power 11-11-2003, 10:18 AM Pace Edwards has improved over the years but based on past experiences with them I would stay far away. Especially when a quality cover like the Retrax is available.
