I just got my rapid hitch and there is a ton of play where it goes into the reciever so much I can hear the hitch move when I close the door. I'm not sure if it is dangerous but it sure is scary to see so much slop.
The reciever is not the problem my old $30 Checker 2" drop Reese hitch has way less play.
Can anything be done or needs to be done. I like the rapid hitch it looks like a work of art but I am a little nervous towing heavy with this thing all loose

I don't know what a rapid hitch is, but I replaced the pin in my hitch with a bolt of the proper size (5/8" I think). Then I was able to tighten it down and take the slop out of the hitch/receiver.

Just measure it. Make sure hitch pin is the proper size, either yorur reciever or hitch is worn.

Well the hitch is brand new so that not possible. The reciever is fine with the old hitch it just moves around alot with the new one. The pin is the locking one rapid hitch sent me. It just has some play up and down and a bunch side to side. beu does not slide in and out.
It's like the hitch is a little small or something.

How about fitting a washer between the receiver and hitch through the pin? That might take the side to side play out of it. I would try the bolt too, that way it is tough for a thief to remove!

Won't hurt a thing but you could always shim the slop with some flashing material or similiar.
