I was wondering what would be a good laptop choice to run the EFI Live software on.

probably won't matter a whole lot just as long as it meets the minimum system requirements. More is alway better though. I dont know what sort of plug ur gonna need but make sure that you can hook it up to that laptop

A couple of weeks ago, Guy Tripp suggested
Best Buy is having a sale on an Acer Laptop for $399.

I bought one to have a look. It will work just fine for EFILive tuning.

They also have a Toshiba for $499 with a duo core processor.

Our minimum and recommended PC/Laptop requirements can be found here http://www.efilive.com/faq_support.aspx#Q8

I have been curious about that efi live. Just how advanced is that stuff. and would you even bother with it if you arent' wanting to go over 100hp

Its not about HP output.....its about making a tune exactly how you want. Plus it has some cool features like scanning and logging. Just requires you to put in the effort to make the tune the way you want :)

You get 2 licenses with it. You can use one to tune your "LBZ" and the other to tune your girlfriends gas truck. You can also purchase additional licenses up to 200 licenses I believe.

I thought the two licenses were 1 for the engine & 1 for the tranny? Is this true? Can you just scan not tune other trucks or cars without the upgrade cost? If you buy the LBZ one which other vehicles can you tune? Is our backwards compatable with earlier years & what makes & models. Will it work on other gas models too?

1 License will do 1 ecm and 1 tcm on the same truck.

You can upload ecm tune and log a truck without burning a license.

You can tune most GM late model rigs, gassers included.

I believe V1 requires 2 licenses to do both the PCM and the TCM, but V2 will do both on 1 license. Here is a list of supported vehicles and the cable need to tune them. (LBZ reqires a V2 cable)
