today i was in the mud nothing really serious. just the slick mud wanted to try out the new bfg's. anyway i went in to it i 2wd and then when i got in and i needed it i put it in 4wd HI. the problem i think is that i put my head out the window to see what was going on and i noticed that my front left tire was not spinning all the time. now i say i think this a problem because i was not sure if when you press the button it becomes a full time 4wd or only part time. but either way it just didnt seem normal to me. i was on it pretty good and it just wasnt spinning like i thought it should. i had no way to see the passeger tire so i am not sure on that. what do you guys think

Thats normal there is no locker in the front, so the left or the right tire could be spinning.

For normal driving and reliability i would look at the E-Locker as mentioned above for your application, the ARB is a great unit also but are prone to leaky o-rings over time from wear and tear. But if your are going to wheel the crap out of it and are looking for brute strength and reliability then the Detroit is the way to go.

I don't think you would want anything, but a selectable locker up front, and a lot of sled puller run the E Locker without any trouble running 3X the stock HP.

If a locker is a must-have and you daily drive your truck, then definitely get a selectable locker. This way you can lock up the front when only necessary and unlock it when you can. If you've ever driven a vehicle with the front locked, then you'd understand why I say this. Trying to turn a vehicle with a locked front end in mud is next to near impossible.
