Went to my body shop where I have had a bunch of work done. Ask them to paint all the black plastic to match my truck. They said no. They told me even if they sand it smooth and use some sort of stuff to help the paint stick it would still come off. They have a very good reputation and don't want there name on that kind of work. So can I buy stuff that matches my paint?

You can buy pre-painted door and tailgate handles, but that's about it. Some shops are real reluctant to paint that kind of stuff, for no good reason IMO. When painting almost any plastic part, there is always a chance that there could be adhesion problems due to a chemical that is used for getting the part to release from the mold at the factory. Sometimes you'll see plastic bumpers that were painted at the factory where it's starting to flake off. This is why. It's a risk, but a relatively small risk. I think body shops are foolish to just refuse to work on it at all. I'd take your truck elsewhere.

I painted all my black plastic a few years ago and it still looks good with very little chipping. I used the same paint as the body has on iy and just scuffed it good.

I asked a body shop to check out mine too! They told me no problem that the paint they use on bumpers has to be a type that is flexible; it is different than the paint on the whole body even though it matches.
He did say that the lower part under the front bumper might get a chip or two along the way, but that would be MY problem.
I didn't get a quote....did you?
