I just bought this truck a couple of days ago. The VIN check showed it had a new flywheel put in at 9300 miles. It now has 68000 miles. When I'm in neutral and push the clutch in slightly it makes a horrible noise that is hard to describe. Like a pilot bearing squeeling maybe? Anyone have this happen to them? If you just push the pedal to the floor it goes away. It's only noisy when you push down a little bit.

It is probably the flywheel. Mine acted like that at 10K. The dealer replaced the flywheel. It is warranted to 100K ($100 deductable). If you let it go, it will damage the clutch which is not warranted.

I just bought the truck and my credit union talked me into a all encompassing warranty that has a $25 deductable. I just have to take it to ANY certified mechanic and whatever's wrong with it they issue a Visa number for the shop to charge it. It's from Mercury Insurance. It also cost about half what the dealership was asking for a warranty. I never trust dealerships. I figure if it's good enough for the loan officer at my credit union and that it's Mercury(which is a huge company) then I should be ok. With how much problems the stock flywheels have I might be able to talk them into getting a upgraded flywheel and paying for the clutch and Fluidamper myself.

DMF is going south, definitely have it replaced. If they are willing to work out a deal on after market parts I would certainly go that route rather than put another factory DMF back in.
Welcome to the DP and I think your truck is even more rare than the Dmax/ZF-6 combo???

Not sure what you mean about the rare thing? It has a Duramax and the ZF 6-speed. It's a bare bones truck with rubber floors, vinyl interior, and manual windows. About the only thing I want to do is put a power door lock kit in it. Leaning accross to unlock the passenger door is annoying.

Sorry missed your signature...I was thinking 6.0 gasser based on your user name. The gadgets are nice but more to go wrong in the long run. Same reason a lot of us choose the ZF. Search the forums about the DMF, lots of information to be found about them and their failures. As I mentioned before drop the dime now for an SMF/Clutch and be done with it. Otherwise you are fighting a loosing battle with the DMF. Wait till you start adding power to it, the DMF is currently is your limiting factor in performance and being able to add power. Good luck and good to see another handshaker here on the forum.

jon6.0 is just what I use on all the other forums I'm on. Makes it easy on me instead of trying to keep track of different usernames.

Update:

Garrett Chevy says it's the slave/throwout bearing. $190 for the part and $450 labor. The noise was there when I bought the truck, so I am going to try and get Midway Chevrolet(where I bought it) to pony up and fix what should've been fixed before it left the lot. It also had a bad ABS controller to the tune of $950 just for the part. Midway Chevy screwed me.
