Hey Guys,

I'm hoping you can help me.

I have an 04 LLY 4x4 with Edge/Juice.

Recently I've experienced a loss in power and I don't know why. The loss isn't major, but it is noticible to me.

My truck doesn't pull my boat up the same grade I drive all the time without shifting. Also the engine seems to be laboring between shifts before the turbo spools up. This makes for a rough transition between gears with the engine bogging for a second and then really accelerating hard.

I have experienced power loss on two different occasions. I drove the truck down Baja and the poor fuel clogged my filter. It caused a significant loss of power and was easily diagnosed by the trucks IN-ability to smoke on Level 5. I replaced the fuel filter and everything was fine.

Then a couple weeks later I noticed the truck laboring between shifts (as described above). I checked the airfilter, 15000 miles and a trip to Cabo and it's dirty. Replaced it and it seemed like the majority of my power is back but not quite the same.

Now about a month later the power has noticably declined. Laboring between shifts and feeling slugish.

What do I do now? I was thinking of changing out the fuel filter again, but the truck still smokes like normal on Level 5. And at $40 per filter I'm not too excited about experimenting.

Any other ideas?

The truck is stock except for the Juice (with monitor) and a lift kit.

Any insight would be appreciated.

How many miles you got on that fuel filter?

Where you buyin' 'em that charge $40.00?

Go to www.gmdieseltech.com and buy one for $25.00

That's a small price to pay for clean fuel and for a $45,000.00 truck,
it's chump change. . . Also, be careful where you buy fuel.
Sounds like you are getting dirty fuel, perhaps in Cabo, et al.

Only 3k miles on the filter and only driven with US fuel.

Also, the fact that the truck still smokes makes me think it's getting plenty of fuel.

Any other ideas?

Sounds like a trip to the dealer is needed! So many things that could cause the loss of some power. Where have you been taking your truck for repairs? I have had good luck with Miramar GMC.

My new 05 is sitting in Escondido and I am hopping to get my hands on it this week!!

I pull my boat from Escondido and back with the cruise on set to 55-60 and it only down shifts two or three times on the round trip. Pulling up the hill in Mission Valley on the 163 I can get it up to 65 if I push it some. The 04 pulls as well as the 01 when it isn't smoking. LOL

The loss just isn't quite bad enough to warant a trip IMO.

I'm going to go change the filter out again right now and see how it drives.

You going to Harrys today? I'll be there.

I imagine your dealer would be open minded to carry a loss of power concern on a truck with 35"shttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/hihi.gif

Maybe some "west coast programming" is needed?http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley9.gif
