I'm considering going to a 4" exaust and see that lots of guys remove their catalytic converter, not just for that but for other reasons as well. What happens when, as we have to do in CA and NV (not to mention other places I'm sure), you need to get the truck smog tested for registration? Do you replace the CAT just for the test? Is there any kind of "quick-change" assemblies that make it easy to put it back in?

But my kat is hangin' in the rafters just in case.

I decided that removing the CAT was not worth it to me. Is this not a federal thing if caught? I went with a CAT BACK system instead from a local shop. Might not have all the power some others have but I know I am legal.
