The alternator on my truck does not start charging until it has been running for around 30 seconds..Is this normal?

You will notice that the voltage will be low for a short time and then suddenly kick up to normal. The jump in voltage is the grid heater cutting off. This is normal... I just put on the 130 amp alternator because of an inverter ad on and it does the same. skoryaro2 12-04-2004, 06:03 PM Interesting - my '05 jumps right up to over 14 volts on any start and stays their. | ||
