I would venture a guess if you are going "on the cheap" hunt down a NOS 5177 Kit. IIRC, it comes with a WOT switch, arm switch, dual jets holders, extra jets, 15lb bottle, hoses, relay, and Nitrous Solenoids. No gasoline solenoid or other crap you don't need. It's intended to be installed in an intake tube or air housing.

Last one I bought, I paid $300 used, and I thought they were $550 new at the time.

Suggest you get a bottle heater also. Otherwise your first pass will be strong, and they will fade as the day goes on.

Correction, the 5177 now comes with a 10lb. Chumps. $556

The kit features a ''dry''-style nitrous injection nozzle, which injects nitrous oxide through the intake system and additional fuel is added through the fuel injectors. An easy 50 HP can be added to any diesel engine with no upgrades required to the fuel system or electronics. Further HP gains of 60-150 HP can be achieved with popular upgrades to the fuel system, fuel pump and the computer chip add ons. This system comes complete with a 10 lb blue bottle, brackets, nitrous solenoid, fogger nozzle, braided hose, micro-switch and everything needed for a clean and simple installation.

Normally I'm impressed with Jegs, But cmon a "dry" Diesel kit with additional fuel being supplied by the injectors? I know it works that way in a spark ignition engine. But, this engine isn't going to increase the fuel flow when the MAF "sees" additional air to keep the fuel mixture from going too lean. Or maybe I can stick my Venom 2000 nitrous kit on the truck. All I will need is an 02 sensor right?http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gif

SO IS IT CRAPOLA OR WHAT?

Looks like the ticket, and it's cheaper than the 5177.

For a "dry" system, you need these components:

Master arm switch

Activation switch (usually WOT switch)

2 nitrous solenoids (in case one freezes open)

Nitrous tubing

Relay

Fuse

Nitrous bottle w/valve

Mounting bracket

Jet holder

Jets

Looks like that kit has everything, except maybe the backup solenoid. Maybe the solenoid can't freeze anymore.

I THOUGHT THE PRICE WAS BETTER THAN MOST BUT DONT KNOW MUCH ABOUT NOS. GUESS ILL LEARN SINCE I HAVE A KIT ON THE WAYhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley1.gif

that's the system I'm running with a pressure gauge, purge and bottle heater added

McRat

The price is good. You might consider the blanket heater and second bottle.

It's easy to hook up except the WOT switch on electronic accelerator vehicles.

TRIVIA: A simple (primitive) way to hook it up is to use the horn relay. When you push on the horn, it sprays. All you do is unplug the horn and run the solenoid in the horn wire. Zero wiring, and very stealth. If you put the bottle under the bed, and plumb the line under the truck to the CAC hose, it is very, very hard to tell.

WHY NOT A HOBBS BOOST SWITCH?

DOH!! It doesn't come with the gauge? Cheapskates. Get a gauge.

No it's not crap. They had just obviously done a cut and paste thing from one intended for an electronically controlled fuel injection car and I was just trying t make fun of that. Or maybe they are really that ignorant?

WHY NOT A HOBBS BOOST SWITCH?

Don't have any nitrous Diesel experience, but with a gas motor you want out of the nitrous as soon as you lift the throttle, you don't want to have to wait until the turbo bleeds off boost. Plus the darn stuff is expensive.

You can run a WTO switch and have it come on when you reach a specific boost via hobbs. you cant really lean out a diesel so its not as picky as a gasser. Thats my plan anywho. Figure it will give me the best launches and its pretty much hands free.

NOS makes a switch that ties into the TPS wire for activation. Activates when the TPS voltage reaches it's set limit. <?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

I'm in the process of putting my system together with some items I have laying around the garage. I will be using this TPS WOT switch along with an msd rpm switch (for the main stage) and a HOBBS.

Planning on running a 2 solenoid set up, one small one that will be used only for staging (to bring the boost up quickly) and the other one for the main stage.

Your power box is putting the fuel out (black smoke) the NOS just helps burn that fuel.

Too much NOS in a diesel just slows it down unlike a POS gasser.

You must be running a monster turbo to need the N20 to spool... My first stage is to go (to the tune of Extremely low 12's and the second stage is to really go...
