I'm looking at two different tuners. The Predator and the PPE Xcellerator. I dont have money for the gauges right away but next payday. I still plan on pulling sleds/bikes/quads so I dont want it to run too hot. I looking to either run the PPE on level 1 or the Predator with the 85hp tune. Which will run hotter when towing or will they both run really hot? I dont plan on beating the snot out of it, but once and awhile I do plan giving her. I also want it to smoke a little bit when I give her. My friend has an 03 Powerjoke with the 6.0l and has it tuned with an SCT tuner and a 5" turbo back exhaust. He tells me its not tuned but hes got SCT badges and it smokes like a train. I would like to beat him when the day comes to race. Will I limp my tranny with these tunes? Also I might get the PPE boost increase valve. How many r's can the lb7 turn safely because I know the PPE kicks up the rev limiter to 4,500rpm and isnt that a little too much for a diesel? Thanks

I love my ppe. If you run the 120 tune or tune 3 on the Xcellerator you will have a hard time getting the pyro past 1000 towing (less than with a stock tune in my experience). You should be OK with your trans on that tune. It will probably not smoke much on that tune but does run well. You can also choose no RPM increase on any tune to keep the factory 4,000 RPM factory rev limiter. The boost increase valve will jump boost to around 23 on a stock tune but yield 28-30 on a hotter tune.

Cool sounds like the PPE is the ticket then, does the xcellerator have the ability to reset the allison for fast learn?

I haven't ever used it but read in the trans forum that it does.

Are you serious? You're not seeing beyond 1K temps towing on a hot tune? I can pop over 1K merging into traffic empty with a tail wind with my Predator, my edge, my superchips, and my BD, no matter what level any happens to be set on.

Yeah cool, I'll let you guys know what I think of it because it should be on by this friday. That does really run cool, what were you pulling? How do you guys think it'll do against the 6.0?

No joke. I can tow a 20 foot enclosed trailer on a four lane with decent sized hills on tune 3 on my hot +2 80 mph and rarely if ever see over 1k on my pyro. By rarely I mean like once in the last year.

Dmax i would spent the little extra and get the hot +2 run it on 1 or two and when its time to race the power stroke dont sweet it kick it to 4 and let it rip

I dont really plan on running much hotter or a tune on the ppe Xcellerator, so would it pay to get the hot+2? even the Xcellerator has got 5 tunes on it right, at like 220hp max?. I'm looking to just wake up my truck a good amount. BTW the 6.0 has an SCT programmer on it but I'm unsure of how hot the tune is.

I just loaded on level 3 with the xcellerator and I cant help but romp on it, but I back off before the 4-5 shift or 5-4. It shifts pretty close to stock and works great. The only thing is, it doesnt smoke much if any on my truck but damn is it quick. It wont hook up on wet roads if I get on it even a little bit. Its addicting. Will my tranny hold up for atleast a few monthes if I stomp her once and awhile? I do plan on getting atleast a pp3 stage 3 kit for the tranny and I would like to run it on levels 4 or 5 once and awhile. It hasnt limped yet or even slipped. Will it smoke a decent amount on these levels? Right now it must be a pretty good air/fuel mix because its just a light haze.

Nobody knows? I would appreciate the help, also should I reset my tranny for quick learn or no, because it said on the tuner that it wasnt recommended. I dont know, it might be just me but it doesnt seem as quick now as it did before, but I want even more now. I havent limped it yet and have a about 150miles on it with it the 120 tune.

I would stay there if you don't want to mod the trans. A converter and a Co-pilot would prob. help alot to keep the trans alive IMO.
