: headers on d-max
MIDWESTDIESEL 05-27-2007, 12:05 PM They are finished headers and up-pipes on my pullin truck man it sounds different I have been to a couple pulls and seen to run really good not much turbo lag and low egt but have not been on a dyno pass to see how much they help it.:)
RI Chevy Silveradoman 05-27-2007, 04:31 PM :nopics: ;)
MIDWESTDIESEL 05-27-2007, 06:32 PM We currently have two sets available the first set is for most people it will handle all but Maximum horse power application and also street able. This set also requires custom up-pipe. Which we also have. The Second set requires up-pipes and pedestal. They are only for the most serious application as seen on our company pullin truck. We hope to have pricing available after we get back from INDY.
carcrafter22 05-27-2007, 10:58 PM nice! looking forward to dyno results and pricing.
Dieselson 05-27-2007, 11:31 PM Nice, we're looking at having those made somewhere.
farmboystoy 05-27-2007, 11:38 PM Look GREAT!! will be calling you Tuesday:)
Blk04HD 05-28-2007, 12:12 AM I seen there truck pull twice in the last two weeks, Easton,Mo. and St. joe last night. All i can say is, OH MY!!! Awesome running truck.
05LLY2500HD 05-28-2007, 12:45 AM Nice!
WanaDmxsub 05-28-2007, 02:36 AM Could the EGT drop be because of the prob location?
timeman 05-28-2007, 03:55 AM Because the headers allows more flow, can the stock exhaust remain or should one still get a 4 or 5 inch exhaust?
hd guy 05-28-2007, 11:43 AM woo hoo can't wait, they look good
moss022 05-28-2007, 11:48 AM will they be at indy?
MIDWESTDIESEL 05-28-2007, 01:18 PM Nice, we're looking at having those made somewhere. Give me a call when you are ready

I seen there truck pull twice in the last two weeks, Easton,Mo. and St. joe last night. All i can say is, OH MY!!! Awesome running truck.Thank you we enjoyed it. Looking for video if you know anybody that has any.
Could the EGT drop be because of the prob location? We feel that the center of collector is the best place and that the drop of EGT id do to better over all flow as soon as we can get to dyno we will post before and after:)
Because the headers allows more flow, can the stock exhaust remain or should one still get a 4 or 5 inch exhaust? For best results you will need to do the hole system
will they be at indy?Yes sir they will be there both sets.
Thank you everybody for the interest and kind words
.
WanaDmxsub 05-28-2007, 07:51 PM We feel that the center of collector is the best place and that the drop of EGT id do to better over all flow as soon as we can get to dyno we will post before and after:)
I would agree that the collector is the best place for the prob. With the stock manifold, the typical prob location is a straight shot into the cylinder. With yours there are a couple of bends. That would, IMHO, appear, to cause an EGT drop. Sorry, just thinking out loud... I agree that more flow will also help drop EGT's. Looks good!
05LLY2500HD 05-28-2007, 08:01 PM should we call for pricing and availability?
what about for the twins guys, think these will fit? I think the turbo brace may be in the way on the passenger side, any idea? sorry my truck's not here right now.
Jasondt2001 05-28-2007, 08:08 PM Oh man, I just ordered the BD and saw this... What kinda money are we looking at for em ????

It dosen;t look like much room for the exhaust off the back of our bottom turbo. or for the support bracket

ratlover 05-29-2007, 07:24 PM think the server is malfunctioning :D
dmaxlover 05-29-2007, 08:19 PM Out of all the prototype Dmax headers I've seen on this site, these are by far the best ones yet! Good job.
What material do you plan on making the production sets out of?
RickDLance 05-29-2007, 08:52 PM I think the server's working fine now.;) ):h
Sorry guys. We don't mean to drag this off topic.
C.A.P 05-29-2007, 08:58 PM Yes , I agree off all the proto type headers they do have the best build and ideas !
McRat 05-30-2007, 08:34 AM :ro)
Very sweet!
I believe headers and riser pipes are going to be part of the solution for max power at high RPM. I melted an OEM riser pipe at high RPM. Too much exhaust gases without anywhere to put them I suppose.
MIDWESTDIESEL 05-30-2007, 11:18 AM Yes they do work very well in the higher RPM and they have there own sound:D
the4wheeler 05-30-2007, 11:51 AM i would think that running thees headers and a aftermarkert downpipe would realy cleen up the "jet engin" sound at WOT (strate piped exhaust of course)
hummmm .........
Blitz636 05-30-2007, 12:22 PM I'd hate to put my inner fenders back in if I had a set of those, why hide all of that beauty ... :D
K-max05 05-30-2007, 07:27 PM Are these headers equal lenght runners or does it matter much for this applicatioin? On our V8 pro stock tractor ran equal lenght runners. Just curious, They look great!!

JD Diesel 05-30-2007, 11:40 PM Any coatings on them ? JD
MIDWESTDIESEL 05-31-2007, 11:47 AM They will be coated. They are not know:)
Mr.FiXiT,Jr. 05-31-2007, 02:18 PM Someday soon I wanna hear these things.

Me too.
Sasquach 06-03-2007, 03:28 AM I've been waiting for someone to make some i've experimented making some but with no luck. Will i be able to run those with everything still on the engine and engine compartment?

With everything but twins that set is not out yet but in the works hard so keep in touch.:D
dmaxlover 06-04-2007, 02:34 PM I got a chance to check out the headers this weekend at Indy. Very nice! I couldn't believe the weight of these things, they should last a very long time.
ratlover 06-04-2007, 02:40 PM I got a chance to see em this weekend. Nice peices.
It was also nice meeting you Midwest:) even though that old senile guy you had welding didnt bring me my darn running boards ):h
Rhall 06-10-2007, 12:41 PM I seen the headers last night, those things look wicked, and defanately have there own sound.
MIDWESTDIESEL 06-10-2007, 06:54 PM Thanks rob i appreciate it:)
UnderPSIDisplays 06-10-2007, 10:12 PM So, it is after Indy now right?? What are we looking at for pricing?
MIDWESTDIESEL 06-11-2007, 12:27 AM Anyone interested please call MidWest Diesel Performance @ 816-690-0097. Many of you have seen how they perform in person. There are variance prices due to the different sets available. We have a Pro series and a Sportsman series. HPC coated headers are available. We are lowering drive pressure dramatically, as well as EGT, Dyno #'s will be available within 2 weeks. HPC coated headers lower the ambient temp. 3-5 Deg.:) The MidWest Diesel truck runs the Pro series. If you have not seen the truck in person you can look on utube for the video from Indy. You can also link into utube from The Diesel Place site. They do work guys if anyone is interested in a set for their truck give us a call and we will get you hooked up on the latest and greatest.:ro)
RLohman 06-11-2007, 12:38 AM :cool_shad Thanks Rob. We had a hard road in Indy. We bent 6 intake push rods and ran the wrong tires. But all the guys worked hard and we were happy with the results from Sundays run even though we broke a pinion. Hey it happens. We were happy with the way the truck ran in King City last night. And look forward to a good season in the truck. I want to send out a big Thanks to all the guys who have put in a lot of hours getting ready for the pulls the last few weeks. :thankyou2
Mike_S 06-11-2007, 01:26 AM Any chance on a link to the video you speak of?

They have not been put on yet.

Always the last to find anything out.:)
Nasty Girl 06-20-2007, 06:12 PM Nasty's new headers are in!:D
All I can say is NICE PIECE OF WORK! The headers fit beautifully with very little adjustment to the 5" downpipe.
Hats off to Midwest on an excellent product! I will post after we run them here in the next day or so.
Nasty Girl 06-29-2007, 12:01 PM Midwest Diesel has hit the nail on the head with these headers, not only do they fit perfect but sound sweet! We have seen a signifigant drop in EGT's of about 200 Deg. As well as imediately after a run the EGT's drop to 400 Deg almost instantly at an idle! Drive pressures dropped 10-12 psi on my setup as well. Didn't get a chance to see if there was a HP increase but I am sure it's there.
I have seen some other prototype products out there and these are second to none!!!
Great job guys you have my vote!!!

slowkid 07-31-2007, 04:39 PM any sound clips yet? will they work with the fender liners intact? Are you doing any ceramic coating or is that a no no?
Rhall 07-31-2007, 08:40 PM any sound clips yet? will they work with the fender liners intact? Are you doing any ceramic coating or is that a no no?
Just come to a pull around here to hear it in person.:D But trust me they have their own sound, go to competition forums and click on the 5th page of "Tomac wins platte county". There is a video that Mike Tomac has put on that is the top 5 pullers, you can hear the truck on there. It defenately sounds sweet.
-Rob-
slowkid 07-31-2007, 10:19 PM I just saw the Midwest Diesel truck run at Bandimere - didn't think to check it out :(
Z71 Grizzly 08-05-2007, 03:34 PM What kind of good results are people finding out with all these header styles coming out? Are they o.k for daily driving then sled pulling anytime. How hard are they to install. Do they have bungs for pyro probes? Thank's
Blk04HD 08-05-2007, 05:56 PM The headers work great on daily drivers that ocasionly sled pull or drag race. There are different sets depending on what you intend to do with your truck, including sets that bolt up to all factory equipment. Yes they do have EGT bungs welded in. Just watched Midwest Diesels truck pull last night at McClouth KS. Pulled 351 ft. and won the class. Call Landon at Midwest Diesel with any other questions.
slowkid 08-05-2007, 07:04 PM are they raw pipe or coated? would a ceramic coating help or is it not necessary? thanks
Blk04HD 08-05-2007, 08:24 PM Pretty sure you can get them coated and uncoated.
ZR1160 10-19-2007, 03:46 PM Has anyone else besides Nasty install these headers, I'm still on the fence but will still probably get them
Nasty Girl 10-20-2007, 12:03 PM Talk to Landen at Midwest I am sure he can give ya some names from here! ;)
