Curious to find out if GM has begun installing the "new" sunroof option in the full size trucks?

I ordered 1 in August. The dealer called today and told me GM just accepted the order and a build date would be forthcoming. He also told me I would be the first one in New England with the roof.

I just got off the phone with my dealer. He said that my order was accepted by GM with no constraints. This includes the new power sunroof! :) For what he saw less than 2% of the trucks built now have this option so it will be rare for awhile. I'm surprized that it slides up and out of the truck instead of disappearing into the roof like the one in my Suburban.

if it does really slide up i think it might be kinda ugly like a honda crx or a civic... sliding back into the roof is the only way to do it IMHO.. i think there's a couple people here that have aftermarket ones that slide into the roof...

Looks like our trucks will be delivered within a week or so of eachother. I'll post my build week when I get it. I know that there is a way to watch the status of Corvettes but am not sure if this can be done with the trucks.

I think GM would have been further ahead if they would have offered us a nice power sliding rear window instead of that ugly setup, it looks so dam cheap and cheesy, I'm glade I passed on it.

I'm sorry I didn't mean for it to sound that way, but you said you didn't receive a built date yet, so why don't you see if you can just get your dealer to have them delete it, and then find a place that has a nice looking after market moon roof, or better yet just buy yourself a nice electric rear sliding window and install it instead.

Whats the S.O.N. Howard? TPW is target prod. week?

KK TRUCKING, the S.O.N. stands for the Sales Order Number. Some dealers call it the V.O.N. (Vehicle Order Number) It is a 6 didget # that starts with a Letter. We are still in the H's as the first letter. If you have a Canadian order, it has 6 #s, no letters? T.P.W. = Targeted( called that cause it keeps moving) Production Weekhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley5.gif. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley32.gif http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley32.gif Howard

I got a call from my dealership last week and they said they put the build date on hold because of the sunroof. I had him take that option out, can't wait any longer for the truck.

Maybe Chevy and GMC have different agenda's huh?

I guess so but how did tbyrne get his GMC with the sunroof?http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley24.gif

tbyrne

I deleted mine also. The dealer told me that the truck wouldn't be built until the week of 1/3 if I waited. I had him scratch that option so it's being built this week :)

TO ALL OF YA, there is no hold up on sunroofs. That are being phased in. Each week more will be added to the build schedule. F.Y.I. Howard Same thing was done with the duramax engine.

Hi All, I ordered the sun roof in my 2005 GMC on 11-01-04 I am really happy to see that Jan 03 is not the start date for the sunroof trucks. But as of today the dealer has not given me any info other than to say the order was placed. While reading through DP fourms I'm wondering now if maybe this dealer has no allocations. Is there any way to find out? I have asked the dealer and have been assured it is the factory that is holding the orders up. I guess I should not hold my breath for a Christmas or Jan. delivery. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley6.gif

Have a sun (moon) whatever those holes in the roof are called on two vehicles. Use'm once a year for about a minute just to make sure they still operate. Next Benz we get will be absent a hole in the roof even if it costs more to get it. Sure wouldn't want it on my truck.

Dealer called me today. I ordered the truck early last week, order was accepted on Friday, initial build date of the week of 12/13, dealer arrival by 12/31 or sooner. Oh yeah, with the sunroof.

I'm a bit miffed as to why it is an external unit a-la Civic. Maybe it will help to deflect the airflow up over my ToyHauler. ):h

Not having looked in a CC yet, GM must be doing it to save headroom, and/or prevent a conflict with rear DVD unit. Could be a structural issue too, esp. with the x-cabs...

Here are some shots of KKTrucking's xcab sunroof. Still not confirmed if this is the same unit that comes on the CC.
