I have a 4wd now, that I race often.. I'm considering trading my Z06 corvette and dodge/cummins truck in on another truck just to play with.. My question is what are peoples thoughts on truck platform?? I know the 2wd has less drivetrain power loss and lighter weight, though the 4wd launch is quick and easy (no tire change, just push button and go)..
If anyone knows weight differences between long bed and shortbed ext cab versions that would be great as well.. Thanks..

reg cab 2500HD. ext cab or CC is just extra weight
Street racing or being somewhat drivable 4x4 by a large margin
Strict drag truck with a set up suspention would be 2wd. But you going to be running slicks and doing some funky stuff to get it hooking and that takes away from drivability and sleeper ness and killing people on the street.
Good luck finding a reg cab truck and finding a reg cab 2wd?
Might wana decide LB7 or LLY too.
Edit: with a tank of fuel and me in it with everything on the truck(tailgate ect) and my tool box full of stuff the plow hook ups and my headach rack my truck weighs 6730. I'm scrawny and I did remove my lightbar(15#'s maybe?)Edited by: ratlover

JMO, but the 4WD will probably become an advantage once you are running better than 13.5sec. On a truck this heavy, even slicks would have a hard time taking a high boosted launch.

Go 4wd if you still want to run the truck on the street. A 4-link and big slicks are necessary to really get a 2wd to hook up and drivability on the street would be poor.
