: Opinions of stock tires...
PointSevenFive 10-07-2004, 04:12 PM I don't even know why they call these on/off road tires. I am talking about the Bridgestone Duravis 245/75's that came on my truck. The reason I got a 4x4 is because my job requires me to drive through mud at times, and the times I have had to, I have to haull-arse because I have had to rock out of muddy situations too many times before. Does anyone else think of these tires the same way I do? I know the solution...buy new ones! But I am the kind of person who keeps something on a vehicle until it needs replacing. Lloyd-TX 10-07-2004, 04:23 PM GM refuses to put decently sized tires on their HD trucks. I lost mine
at 800 miles and replaced with H2 wheels and LT 275/70R17 Goodyear
Wrangler ATS tires.

PointSevenFive 10-07-2004, 04:55 PM That looks nice! And as much as I hate to lose my wheels and tires I am seriously considering doing it. I have a couple of questions for you. What width are the H2 wheels? Do you have to recalibrate your speedo/odo when you step up the tire size like that? Thanks!

OEM H2 wheels are 17x8.5", with the identical "offset" of our OEM 6.5"
wheels (the H2 is built upon the 2500 Suburban platform). At 31.4"
tall, my new Goodyears are 1.8" taller than the PUNY OEM P245/7516's,
so speedo re-calibration would be nice, but I haven't done it yet.
I took a short road trip over the weekend and checked to see how far
off my speedo is with these tires - truck indicated exactly 19 miles
while I actually traveled 20 freeway mile markers. That indicates that
my speedo is reading exactly 5% slow - 70 indicated is actually 73.5
MPH.

Lloyd-TX 10-07-2004, 05:52 PM Oh, I almost forgot to mention that since you're in Houston I can refer
you to the Hummer dealer where I bought my take-offs if you're serious
about the H2 wheels.
It's the same dealer I bought my new truck from - David Taylor
Pontiac-GMC-Hummer on 59 Southwest Freeway @ Airport Blvd (in
Stafford). Can't recall the guy's name, but just ask for parts dept.
and ask to speak to the parts manager. I have purchased TWO sets of H2
take-off wheels from him - the set on my new truck and the set on my
'02 1500HD which I recently sold to a friend of mine.
BTW, for each complete SET I paid only $140.00 for four wheels including the caps and lugs.
If you're using the OEM center caps, you won't need the H2 caps and
lugs, of course.

PointSevenFive 10-07-2004, 09:43 PM http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley3.gif Are you serious!?!? You payed thatlittle for the set as in four wheels? Are they new? I know exactly where that dealer is, I think I will be making a trek over there! Thanks!

Yeppers - $140.00 + sales tax for FOUR brand new H2 take-offs, caps and
lug nuts. Dunno if they've raised the price since David Taylor bought
the dealershipon August 1. Before then it was called Southwest Pontiac-GMC-Hummer and was GM owned.
BTW, what part of town are you in??? If you want to see my truck with
the H2 wheels and Wranglers you could stop by my shop in Bellaire M-F
8-6. Call first though 'cause there are times that I'm away running
errands, etc. Address is 5118 Spruce St., Bellaire TX 77401. Just
outside loop 610 VERY near the corner of Bissonnet and S. Rice. Ave.,
(713) 664-5118.
Take care.
PointSevenFive 10-08-2004, 11:38 AM I live around West U, so I am really close, I will try to swing by this coming week. I will call first though...I am guessing ask for Lloyd? Thanks again!
Lloyd-TX 10-08-2004, 11:54 AM Yep - West University Place IS really close.
You got it, ask for Lloyd!
If you've ever been to the O'Reilly Auto Parts store (aka Charlie's
Hi-Lo) in Bellaire, we're right next door. Also directly behind the HEB
Pantry grocery store.
See ya next week.
Ace_of_Chaos 10-09-2004, 06:14 AM Lloyd-TX, do you have any lift or TB adjustments to fit the H2 Wheels ?
And let me get this straight, you paid $140 for EACH H2 wheel, or $140 total for 4 wheels ? I might have to make a Houston trip ! http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley1.gif
Dmax Tim 10-10-2004, 06:09 AM Around here they are $200/set of 4.
They all go by supply/demand and lots of new H2 get bling wheels.

One more time - $140.00 + tax TOTAL for a set of brand new H2 take-off
wheels, caps and lug nuts. Just give the parts manager at David Taylor
Pontiac-GMC-Hummer a call @ (281) 287-7000. I have bought TWO sets for
that price, the latest about 6 weeks back.
BTW - that price does NOT include tires, LOL!!! Sets with tires were around $600.00 +-.
No lift or TB adjustments to fit MY tires, though they're NOT very
large - once again LT275/70R17's. Goodyear lists them as being 32.4"
tall, and stockers are about 30.6" tall. Very slight trimming of lower
air dam WAS required.
