Ok, here's the deal. I don't have time or patience to go around
trying to collect 150 gallons of wvo every week so I found a place to
buy it. This place recycles cooking oil from restraunts and sells
it as a cattle feed supplement. The guy says they use it in their
boilers and that if I asked about "Yellow" grease ya'll would know what
I was referring to. My question is, is this stuff safe to use as
fuel. It is a mixture of cooking oils, peanut, canola, etc.
It is water and bacteria free and will cost me about .15 cents per
pound or around 1.00 per gallon.

It may have to be warmed to lower viscosity but yes, it's safe.
Flitered and water free are a plus.

ok thanks, because this stuff is not clear, it looks like thin brown mustard sort of.

If you can get it off the top that's best.
Did he say how filtered 20 or 10 micron?

QM , If you mix it haft and haft with diesel fuel would it be ok as it is ?

Don't let the cold catch you with too vicious a mix to start your rig. More of a summer thing I'd think.
Better off to limit your use with valves or solenoids and have two seperate fuel systems with sepearte pumps filters lines and tanks. keep the diesel seprate from the svo for start-up shut-down reasons.

or refine it yourself, pour it in the tank, and go.

He didn't say how filtered. It is put in a centrifuge for
moisture spinout and filtered. I figured I would filter it down
to 2 mic and burn it as is if it was ok to use. My main question
was does it matter if it is straight veg. oil or can it be mixed with
other types, peanut etc. and that is what I am trying to
determine. This will save me a about $100 per week in fuel
expense.

That's why I said draw off the top. The lightest oils will be up there.

Thanks QM. I drive past this place every day and today I decided
to stop and ask if they sold the stuff. Did the math and I don't
think I can resist, with my construction business I don't have the time
to go collect this stuff on my own, so I figure I can buy it and still
save some money. At half the price of diesel right now in DFW
(2.059) I figure I have to do something 'cause fuel is my biggest
expense every month.

Here is a post that I found of a guy with a 99 Ford that is running it pretty much straight. http://forums.thedieselstop.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat= (http://forums.thedieselstop.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=1914372&page=1&view=colla psed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1) &Number=1914372&page=1&view=collapsed&sb=5&a mp;o=&fpart=1
I too am looking at doing this as diesel is now $2.29 in Oregon.Only $2.22 for Premium gas! What is up with that?
